dodgercannon
Right Ive noticed the past week that my car is leaking oil so today I got under and took a look.Nothing is coming from the sump so I doubt its engine oil.I cleaned it all up and took it round the block then got it back up on the jack.It seems to be comming from the gearbox but its very think unlike gearbox oil.I had a look in the engine bay and there is some on the box so I think its comming from the top.Could it be brake fluid as there is a brake line right above the gearbox along with the clutch bleed valve? The oil is like a light brown yellow colour and is quite thin. Can anyone help me please?cheers. Mike_M
Check all your levels and note them and then check them again a day or so later to see if there has been a drop in any of them. Also stick some newspaper under the car after a drive, to see where any fresh drips are coming from. But to me sounds like a gear box leak if it is quite thin oilAll depends on the actual location once that is established. dodgercannon
Thanks forthe reply. It is coming from the gearbox area. If it is gearbox oil how can I rectify it?
Defcon5
Isnt gearbox oil quite thick? 75-90 or something?Could be clutch fluid from the cylinder? Not changed the clutch recently have you?

Defcon5
A new clutch can cause the slave cylinder to fail, happened to me when I changed mine. Easy to check though - the brake and clutch fluid is one and the same.
