nfbr
Unfortunately he will Probably have to get one ordered up from VW.You can buy the blank keys, however it often costs more to have the Vehicles immobilisor coded to the new key and the key cut, than it does just to buy a Pre-cut and Pre-coded key direct from VW. Steve TDI
You could get one cut from the market. Remove the chip and stick it to the reader. That way it'll work what ever key you stick in there that is cut the same.

If this is not functioning and the car is stolen, Technically it is un-insured.Falls under the same ruleings as if you left the key in the car. Dann
Its worth checking if you have a key cutting specialist in the area as well. One of my mates lost his VW key and the quote was over £100 for the blank key, cutting and the chip inside to be programmed but a local mobile key cutter did one for mine at £80.
