Defcon5
Early mondeo maybe, will already come with its own masking tape! How may people are in your team, are you limited to larger cars to fit you all in?What are you thinking engine wise, Id be looking for a non-turbo mechanical derv I think
2001gti
engine isnt really a problem, its more size, there will be 4 fully grown adults, so somthin with abit of space init will be perfect.

heartagram
Try and find something like an old 740 Volvo. I had one and if your going to be doing a lot of driving you can beat a big comfy barge. Mine had all the mod cons, electric windows, electric sunroof, electric mirrors, heated leather seats, power steering, air con, central locking and was an automatic. It was totally awesome to drive, so comfortable. Well untill I did.....

LINCOLNSHIRESLUPOGTI
You can get some Merc 190 for under £300 though it will almost certainly be a 1.8 petrol. Had my 190 2.0 petrol for nearly 3 years now and just baout to tick over 200,000 miles, ace cars.Old Nissan Primera are quite cheap (though you would not get a 2.0 eGT which are really great drivers cars) as are the early Cavalier Sri 8v. Both pretty reliable too even when abused.**No one slate me here, I know neither of those are great cars but they are great for a couple of hundred quid to go fast, carry 4 adults and take abusive fun driving.
