GTi Si
Has anyone got pictures of the door without the trim on it so I can look at speaker mounting.A pictures with the speakers removed would be great. Can you get to the insides of the doors easily? Can the metal plate be removed (like on a Mk4 Golf)?S

GTi Si
Cheers.I will be putting in an install to compete next year so need to know how the doors go together. Are there spare grommits on the firewall to allow you to route power cable into the cabin easily?S
Tigz™
Just put it through the standard cableing grommet located on the N/S of the engine bay.The higher grade cableing the better, 4awg is tough to feed through where as 0awg goes straight through... Tigz™
Good to hear it. And I take it your not doing the silly thing and useing audio cable?http://www.johndavies.co.uk/newweldingcabl...andfittings.htmSW1009 £1.68 50mm² Max 320A ContinuousAnd no matter what anyone says, it is just as easy to work with as audio cable, I used 0awg as did LoudLupo, and neither of us had problems routing it. GTi Si
I used some for the big 3 upgrade in my Golf (battery earth, alternator earth and alternator to battery), but I found it too stiff.I prefer the audio cable as you can actually cut it and bend it!S
Tigz™
trust me you can bend this stuff mate. It took me an hour to route the cabble start to finish and a hacksaw makes cutting it a piece of piss.
GTi Si
LOL, I know.I have some cutters that go straight through audio 0ga like it was string style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />S

GTi Si
Thanks for the great pictures.I take it there is no cover over the bottom exposed area other than the lower door card.S
M1 Lupo
None other than the foam panel that acts as a water barrier..
Tigz™
I think its sound proofing to tell you the truth Dan. Its a foam membrain if I remember what it was like before ripping it off.
M1 Lupo
Its a shame that the sound deadening isnt a bit better as standard..

DubDub
M1 have you put Dynamat all over the inside of the door (top aswell) or just the bottom half??
tdwindustries
think of the weight!
M1 Lupo
I deadened the whole door skin from top to bottom, and there is a triple layer behind the speaker. Actually the whole car has at least a single layer.I'm not too bothered by the weight really, 9 rolls of sound deadening is nothing when you have a sub which weighs 20kg without the box in the back...The components are sounding full on beautifull! Mids trying to jump out of the doors / snap your legs with thier punch. Tweeters play with so much accuracy you can hear the sound of the plec on the strings and the singer breathing whilst singing. Pure bliss!I think they need about 10 - 15 more hours of listening to loosen up a bit more. Plus redesign the box for the sub to have a larger port. Then im done till I can spend some ££££ on signal processing.
