dailydriver
I've done a bit of searching on here and found out that a few things seem to cause the emissions light to come on and flash. I can't get the car to a garage for a couple of days and need to use it tomorrow, does anyone know if this could cause any damage to the engine? Car is a 1.4 sport btw. Cheers. Defcon5
I think flashing = bad. Does it say anything in the manual, apart from 'take to VW dealer'?
dailydriver
Cheers for advice dude. I've taken it to a garage who have plugged the car into their computer and diagnosed as misfire on cylinder 4. The ignition lead on this cylinder seems to be the problem. I've bought a new set of leads from VW, had a look under the bonnet (and don't want to break anything), but is there a technique to removing the leads from the coil pack? Do they have to be twisted then pulled or something?
one litre wonder ;)
these wee cars are notorious for eating iginition leads and spark plugs , more common on the 1litres though
Defcon5
Its a bit like taking a cork out of a wine bottle. Watch out though - it may be your coil pack thats knackered, rather than the leads
99hjhm
Change the plugs and coil pack aswell... it's only a matter of time.Twist and pull to get them off the coil pack, mine were almost welded onto the spark plugs. If thier is any corrosion on the coil pack terminals, repalce. £75max inc vat from gsf.
