LUPOES
I went to my local tyre place this lunchtime and the guy came to have a look at the wheels and said "ooohh 205, they're difficult to get hold of" and I thought "yeh, so I've seen on the net!"He has two Dunlop 205s in stock and the last time he sold some was 18 months ago to my local VW dealer who uses them all the time.I was quoted £100 a tyre. I would get them again as it's what the car is already wearing. He didn't mention any other brands for this size of tyre.
bossjohnc
Toyo T1Rs are pretty much the only other tyre available in that size. They became available around late 2004 I think, a few years after the GTI started production. They're a fair whack cheaper, although they do wear slightly faster. They stick to the road far better in the sun, they are better (imo) in the wet than the dunlops, however I've lately found out that the dunlops pee all over them in the snow!
