Squeaky Seats

 Share

Recommended Posts

Looking through the search it seems this is a bit of a common problem

on Lupo's / Arosa's.

I've tried GT85 on the catches and things whilst the seat is tilted forward but this still hasn't

cured it.

Has anyone actually managed to stop them squeaking?

If so, how?

My old seats were fine, but since mounting the TT seats on some old subframes last week, the drivers seat squeaks like mad, I think I have pinpointed it to a rubber that is by the rear mount nearest the door in the runner, If that makes sense.

I hope to be looking at it this week, Will et you know if I sort it, Is this where yours is coming from ?, Would be interesting to know if it is.

Finally sorted them :)

Took the seat out of the car and eventually found what was causing the noise, sprayed some GT85 on the offending area and all is good.

The noise was coming from the catch where the seat 'clunks' back into, there is no need to remove the seat to oil the catch

it can be done whilst the seat is tipped forward in the car.

Ahh Lee you beat me to it! My seat was driving me mad so a month or so ago I stripped it down to find out what was squeaking...

In the end I oiled the catches (same as the one's you've shown) and that cured it:

It's been silent ever since :shades:

…many many thanks to those who created and contributed to this thread

my Lupo GTI's seats were driving me mad since March with incessant squeaking -- now all sorted today thanks to this thread

i took the additional step of dismantling the seat bush and pin assembly - grease and oil applied = silence at last !!!

cheers, Will
