Tigz™ Posted March 12, 2008 Report Share Posted March 12, 2008 iv heard the 6 speeds can take more of a thrashing than the 5 speedsWho told you that?Its the same box.Not as common as other VW gearboxes, but there have been a couple of faults.Only one I remember fully was a broken selector shaft on a 5 speed, and I may remember that Boss John had a 6 speed replaced under warranty although I may be making that up.Assuming the 5 speed box is the same one as in the 6N2 Polo GTI, I have heard really bad things about the reliability of this box.Its not.
