Dunno about the legality of stretch, but iirc tyres/wheels protruding from the arches is an MOT failure - thus a car with them would technically be without a valid MOT and as such you're looking at points/fine if Mr Policeman feels like it.

Chances are you probably wouldn't get pulled for that alone, but if you were pulled for some other reason (eg driving erratically) and Mr Policeman decided to go looking for something to do you for, that would be a good starting place for him.

A mate got pulled in his mk1 with 14x9s on the back, traffic copper just said as long as the actual tread of the tyre doesn't protrude the arch then it's kosher.

And don't shoot the messenger lol.

yup you can have wheels as wide as you like but no part of the top of the tread can be visible from the top of the arch , so if you look straight down onto the wheel and you cant see the tyre at the top of the arch your legal

the mot guy at my work said that you can have the wheels and tread out as far as you want for mot purpose but its the discretion of the mot tester to weather he classes it as dangerous.

as for the law its as long the tread is with in the arch and they dont class the stretch rim as dangerous.
