Just spoken to TSR and they say i need new calipers and carriers, looking at around £350 all in including discs, i think i'll give the scrap yard a try on saturday and try a few of my mates with golfs.

well, man3.. ive got the ferodo pads fitted now, aswell as a new fill of APracing "600" brake fluid... pads are now run in and provide significantly greater stopping power than OEMs.. so braking power is up to a level where you can now quite easily get the ABS in action on dry surface, but the brakeforce delivery from pedal to caliper still seems soggy cause the steel lines are STILL not in place..

they were custom made to specs from the guy from the `VW-garage`, unfortunately the VW `parts-list` mentions the connection to the caliper as being 12mm dia. whereas its really 10, so i m going to have to have them redone arg...

i dont know if you would need bigger discs on the lupo GTi in standard state of tune as already this little upgrade yields pretty impressive results.. now i only need/want/expect a more clear pressure point (ie a smaller amount of travel of the brake pedal when the pads go from "stroking" the discs to really gripping it) from those steel lines.

what is certain though is that youre going to need a bit of reorientation after a brake upgrade.. you can REALLY brake later, but that realisation sinks in quite slowly biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />.. usually, im just standing still a bit away from the turns now biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

braking is also an a lot more stable operation (maybe not so on the standard suspension biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />)

more news later when those damn steel lines get fitted in about `3-4` weeks

I know that uprating the pads n discs will help a lot but a friends saxo has a 283mm big brake upgrade and i want that sort of stopping power. We're both going to the same track day, my acceleration is slightly better (although i'll strip it out for the track day) his cornering speed is slightly higher (despite the koni coilovers) although having some seats by then should even it up. The place he's gonna make it up is on braking, theres quite a lot of heavy braking from high speeds (100mph+ right down to 4o or so). Put it this way, i need to lap faster than him or i'll never hear the end of it, its only a VTR! I will not lose!

I find that my ABS cuts in far too early, it doesn't take much effort for me to get it to cut in, even in the dry when its hot!

Any chance you could get me some of those hoses, i'll pay good money for them! Those ferodo pads, are they DS2000's? Anyone know where i could get some ATE power discs from? I want, no, i NEED Lupo cup car brakes, i need them!

well, concerning those hoses.. im sure, no POSITIVE you can get the same quality stuuf over there.. i found these guys looking for distributors of APracing brakes, from the APracing website.. im sure this search will yield an adequate brake specialist that will know what to do with your special request wink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

.. and, dont forget.. 10mm diameter, NOT 12 tongue.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

and, ATE IS a firm.. they do have a site too.. but its all a bit complicated.. no cupcar brakes there as far as i could tell

I know ATE is a firm, but i can't find anyone who stocks their products, i'd also quite like the Brembo discs. Finding parts for a Lupo in the UK is a feckin nightmare mad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry:" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Whats it like on your side of the water? Were the pads DS2000?

yip, finding parts for a car nobody really has seen/heard of before IS a pain, even on this side of the channel (and ESPECIALLY in this potatocountry) "ah yes, a polo GTi" is the common mistake and every upgrade is a struggle.. not in the least because even VW doesnt know how its baby GTi is put together

Thankyou very much, it would be much appreciated! Also, those hose you had made, did you have to supply them standard hoses as a template for them to make them, or just a length? Have i tempted you with the Exhaust yet?

pads are DS2500 (i had to reconstruct the number from a photograph i sent matt, the packages were lost in the garage) if you have a mail address ill send you the shot too

for the hoses, yes, having a template helps, for the connections aswell as the length! borrow one from yr local dealer (the guy from my garage gave me his old Polo GT hose, the only difference being that one is a bit shorter)

and, yes im tempted by the exhaust, but very much skint aswell, so deffo `no-go` on that one
