I'm with Matty B on this - if you want a Type R - get the Integra. Some other options you might not have considered, all respectable performance, plenty room, and I cant imagine a great deal different to insure than a CTR; Audi S2, S4 BMW E34 M5 Mercedes C36 AMG, C43 AMG, E36 AMG Volvo S60 T5

I had one of these. I agree totally regarding build quality. As for the rest, it was a fantastic car, handling is fantastic, but engine needs to be really used to get the best from it. If I were to run a cheap track car this would certainly be high on my list to consider.

As for Fuel my recent cars driven 'sensibly' during day to day driving: A4 1.8T sport - 400 miles on £60 S3 - 250 miles on £50 A2 1.6 - 300 miles on £30 Beetle 1.6 - 250 miles on £40 The A4 was fantastic on economy, which given it has 212bhp was quite suprising. The S3 is averaging around 21mpg at the moment, whereas the A2 is late 30's most of the time. I think the key is what your daily drive is like - my mrs does 75 miles each way mostly motorway and gets over 30mpg from the car, whereas mine is all stop start local traffic and I am lucky to get 20 - if economy is going to be a factor then maybe you need a fabia VRs - chipped .........

I ran a 275bhp TT - same engine as the S3. the economy wasnt that bad - certainly not bad enough to be a deciding factor in buying the car or not. In normal use the TT returned around 32mpg more on longer journeys, this dropped to mid 20s if you were giving it a lot of stick, but this wasnt every day. These cars suffer with all the normal problems associated with the 1.8T lump - water pumps, etc. IF you go for a remapped one there have been instances where the remap is not done well causing cylinder temps to get too high and you end up with pistons melting, but this isnt a common issue. For info on these I'd check out Tyresmoke or audi-sport where there is a significant number of S3 owners and it'll give you a good indication of what problems people are suffering.

I used to do Jiu Jitsu, Nin Jitsu and Bo jitsu. Very good level of fitness, flexibility and defensive skills can be attained through Jiu Jitsu. As mentioned in this thread though if you can find a good local mixed arts class they are very good. Many of the Jiu Jitsu classes will help you to defend yourself but they can be limited with offence should you ever find a need, and this is where some of the mixed arts can help you. Bo jitsu is of no real use (IMO) in day to day life, it does help coordination and dexterity and it looks good, but a 'Bo' is effectively a tapered quaterstaff - and it looks good in displays and stuff, but you dont often have one to hand in the street!!!

Lets be honest - to work in VW CS you need to have training to remove customer service skills, and not many of the other departments are much better so knowing their company name I bet doesnt feature highly.

I ve signed also, but TBH do you think the government is going to listen? They still think Speeding is one of the deadly sins regardless of what facts actually show, so I doubt they will take much seriously from a motoring lobby.
