Dblock
I need help with my rcl please. One day my rcl stopped working i think cos my plip key ran out of battery, then i replaced it and it started working fine again. But then once again its stopped working and i need it to work. I dont know why it has stopped working. Is there a diy fix or is it a job for the stealer. CheersDaood

Arosa_03
have you tried cleaning the contacts in the key fob?
cardaft
I had a similar thing, i replaced the battry because it had gone, but it went suddenly not like you had to get closer to the car for it to work because the barrty was low. Then a few times after that, id come back to the car and it was unlocked, so i pressed the button on the key and it didnt work, i then turned the ignition on and took the jey out and it worked style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Its not done it for ages now, so im assuming it was dirty contacts or something. But seems odd that it worked after i turned the ignition on, so i dont know what was going on there, but the light on the key wanst working so it was the key and not the car.Maybe you have a duff battry?Try cleaning the contacts inside as suggested.Chris Edited January 11, 2007 by cardaft

SexOnWheels
Mine has been doin the same thing for about a month now, changed the battery etc... tried bending the contacts to touch inside. After all that i find bashing the key a couple of times on the floor of the car park much easier. Works fine after that style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Gavs_arosa16v
Mine sometimes does'nt work, but I just use the key and next time it works. It says this can happen in the car instuction book, because it uses a rolling code. If its really that bad take it to the dealer, your key may have had it. The subtle modder
jamesy have you had a Fiat previously? just you seem to be giving all the idea that work on fiats and not Vag's? for examply there is no master keyDaood i had this problem when trying to figure it out on my brother corsa sport i tried bending the contact etc and even thought it may be the control box reciever but out of luck found the spare tried that and it worked first time so he ended up getting a spare done im sure a decnt vw dealer/specialist or a good key cutters could do the same for not much money, it seems after so much abuse the circuit bourds in the keys just get damaged and give upwayne
