least important area of resistance in a system is the back box though, by the time the gasses have got there they have cooled a little and become denser and need less room to flow as quick as before. but having everything freeflow is the target of course.

ah yes, i kind of meant freeflow in sence of no bad restrictions. but i dont think the stock backbox is a bad restricition anyway.

i think keeping original "shape" of the exhaust system can be important in regards to the pulse tuning of the engine?

That's the same engine.

It's possible, but so are lots of things, don't expect it to be easy or cheap.

Oh it definately will not be easy or cheap, insurance will love you long time.

Also do you have a GTI ? the GTI is a well balanced car, please dont go wrecking it with a big lump like that.

All performance gains are done pre-cat - Manifold and downpipe. Silencer bore/shape, system length and design only aids revving and smooth running. The back box does nothing, other than further reduce any noise and emission gasses. Your right in a way, but there's more to it than that smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

if a back box is to reduce noise then why does the cup car run 1?

it is there to help back preasure on a n/a car.if u do not have good enough back preasure u wil loose power and may struggle to start and run.
