Jez
What are the physical differences between the 1.4 16v 75bhp and 100bhp?is it cams and engine map?anyone know if putting GTI cams in the lowly 75bhp model and then some software adjustment will sort it? Tigz™
Cant be arsed to write it all out again.Looking at this, the cams could be diffrent. As far as I know, the cams in the 100bhp sport are lairier than the GTI.Two diffrences we know of.The throttle body on the 75bhp engine is smaller than the 100bhp.The inlet manifold is diffrent. It has been suggested that the Cams may be diffrent also.I didn't belive this to be the case, as I had been told the peak touque was indentical and at the same RPM.This is not true.Looking at the specs in the pic posted you'll see the touque is almost indentical (126NM on the 75hp model compaired to 128NM on the 100hp model) but the revs the peak tourque is reached is raised by 1000rpm.This follows the Peak Power increase, that is also 1000rpm higher up the rev range. One noticable diffrence is the 75bhp power clame is using normal 95RON fuel where the Sport is rated using 98RON fuel.According to ELSA the ECU is the same ECU.If this is true then its possable to get this ECU remapped. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
Marmes
Also the lambda sensor is different, on 75hp uses a 5wire lambda sensor and is before the cat. while the 100hp is 3 or 4 wire lambda sensor and it's positioned after the cat. There must be something else different mechanically, I used the 100hp maps on 75hp and it ran the same way the 75 mapas did, but sometimes the car stopped with no warning. the engine simply stops! dazraz_uk
Cant be arsed to write it all out again.Looking at this, the cams could be diffrent. As far as I know, the cams in the 100bhp sport are lairier than the GTI.Ive asked this before but recieved no answer........but, would this mean 1.4 cams in a GTi would give any benefit over standard? Tigz™
No, as the Sport has diffrent lifters if I understand it crrectly. Also your ECU will be mapped to run the GTI cams and VVT.I could be wrong, as Im no expert but commen sense tells me this will be the case.
