mk2
Yeah, I can buy the expensive alloy wheel cleaning chemicals. But just wondering if anyone has any tricks they use? The front wheels on one of my Lupos is absolutely covered in brown brake dust. Tried jetwashing it off. No effect. Sponge with car soap. No effect. Running out of ideas. Anyone? I use Autoglym Alloy wheel cleaner (buy the 1ltr as you get more for your money). More recently i did buy a Alloy wheel cleaning brush as it helps gets in the difficult areas and is a softer brush. Be warned, it stinks. Mine are still a work in progress - https://www.instagram.com/p/C__NWOWub_W/?igsh=MTdobHp2YngyYmhrbw%3D%3D
mk2
Thanks for that 👍🏻 I just looked up the active ingredient on the MSDS, and it's sodium mercaptoacetate. Basically, a non-acidic rust remover, which makes it safe on alloy wheels, stone and plastics. And doing some cross referencing, the stuff comes in quite a few different products- the most expensive typically being to clean wheels. The cheapest being to remove rust stains from paving stones. I'll get something with it in and report back. Here's some additional reading on the stuff if you really want to nerd out: https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoDetailing/comments/ccd1n5/discussion_on_designing_the_ultimate_fallout/
