  1. Erm yeah, whatever! I knew I should have slept through less lectures at Uni and that might mean something. Good job so far mate, I like the idea of keeping it front engined as it adds to the stock look, some saxos gonna think you've gone for a rally look 1.0 and get the grin wiped off his face!
  2. I have a spacesaver spare that will fit then use your current spare to replace the buckled one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-VW-Space-Saver-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. I've been tidying the garage and found the space saver wheel I got for the Lupo when I was going to put a small sub in the wheel well (never got around to it). I never got a chance to fit it, so can anyone with EKTA tell me what SEAT it's off and ideally PCD, I presume 4x100? Part no is SEAT 1LO.601.025D (might be 0250, hard to read). Oh and if anyone wants a space saver then it's yours for £10, brand new tyre with the nobles on.
  4. I'd agree that sounds well step for what is quite an old car now. I'd say offer 3.5k cash and see what he does.
  5. Me like the caddy mate! Fancy getting a Mk3 Golf on air suspension now the Mk1s gone.
  6. Looking good was tempted to hang on for the new Leon but couldn't wait. A set of the 18s from the Cupra R would look mint!
  7. Think VW wanted about £400 when I rang for mine, and Kwik Fit realised the morning I dropped it off that they can't do it so assume would be same for most chain garages.
  8. I like the stretched tyres and the 3l front end looks mean, but can't help feeling it would look better all one colour.
  9. No I wouldn't! Nowt wrong with your car mate, debadge it, keep it clean and drop it and enjoy cheapie motoring, a lot of my mates have had that shape and loved it, but I'd get an alarm as at least two had theirs nicked. One of them the pikey got 200 yards and fried the electrics so bad it was a write off!
  10. Well if you're interested I have a set of recaro style fronts from a Mk4 Golf GTI, dark grey/black in as new, would have thought be far easier than the Mk2 seats to fit. Will dig out a photo if you're interested.
  11. Getting on great there! Still think chopping the dash in half would look cool! Been working on the Golf today and reminded me how heavy the battery is. Does such a thing as a lightweight battery exist? Gotta save a few kgs.
  12. Weighbridges should be very accurate. I walk on the one at work and it weighs me pretty accurately, and I don't weigh nearly as much as a Lupo. Of course they might be out by a few kgs but if calibrated should be no more than that.
  13. I paid £4500 for a 51 plate TDI with 40k from a car supermarket in March this year, flogged it 4 months and 20k miles later, needing a service at £3600 (tried for ages on ebay but that was the best bid I got) That 51 plate at 60k for 5k is well off the money. Remember they need a cam belt change at 60k at about £300+the normal service cost from a VW dealers so recommend you get one that's just had that done and you've got a fairly cheap 60k left in until the next one. My advice would be keep checking ebay and autotrader, you'll find one eventually!
  14. Ok what about carpets and melting off the sound insulation like they do on Mk1 Golfs? Lose the passenger mirror? Cut the dash in two to keep the half you need, and fit a skinny airbag-less wheel, and ditch the centre console. Ditching the heater would be good too except in winter! I've seem some where they drill large holes in all the interior non-structural metal to save more but probably going too far. Ditch the bonnet and boot struts (makes Tesco trips interesting) and maybe the heat blanket on bottom of bonnet (can't remember if loops have them?) I was gonna go lightweight on the Golf to make the most of tiny 1.3, stripped the rear and was gonna do alu or something like that in the back, but 'found' some galvy 3mm steel from work. Looks good but doubt it's lighter than the seats I binned. Ended up with a weird rat/race look hybrid and have Mk4 GTI seats to fit if I can't sell it which look pucker but have the side airbags so weigh a fair bit too. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
  15. This might have been covered already, but have you considered exhuast, fuel tanks, glass etc? Perspex windows are a great weight save, and alu fuel tanks etc (presume the standard is steel?).
  16. Well I think that completes your car mate! Will have to have a nosy next time I see it parked up by Xscape.
  17. You can get Lupo mudflaps, proper VW fitted ones, got a set of 4 off ebay for about £15-£20.
  18. They're probably following it up with "and if I fit some neons in the wheels arches you'll be able to see them at night too!"
  19. Saw these on another site, first pic looks a bit hoax, the car is floating, but the second you can see a reflection so assume it's some very strong clear plastic?! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
  20. Very tasty, always liked the Yaris. Only suggestion would be to loose the rear badges for a cleaner look, maybe even de-wiper but would need bodyshop visit of course. Wheels are uber-tasty!
  21. On an unrelated topic having followed your links, I love your rabbit! Ours is the same dopey eyed, droopy eared bundle of fur. You should see the way she eats through scart cables if she gets behind the telly!
  22. Fuel pump I believe, don't wanna go in there!
  23. I do like that! Fancied a black roof on my fantasia but never got around to it. Would have gone for debagged grille and smoothed the indicators personally, especially as the guy seems to be a dab hand with bodywork.
  24. I've always had a soft spot for these and you can pick em up for peanuts so make great cheapie GTIs to abuse. As for the less exciting versions, if you get a Honda engine one they're one of the most reliable cars you can buy for sod all cash, would rather be seen in that than a crappy Pug 309 or summat.
  25. Well going back to the topic, was the lorry privately operated as most aren't, so ring the company who's name is plastered down the side and give them hell, they may well pay out and give the driver hell, especially if you mention you might get the papers involved as it's the kind of weird story the local rag might well like! Other than that if it's a lorry of rubbish it will be going to a landfill (like where I work) so if you can work out which one it was going to, ring them up and complain about their customers lorry and the reg number, and they may well ban that lorry from the site which whilst not helping you will make his life a lot harder. We have to very careful about unsheeted customers loads as whilst nothing to do with us they reflect badly on the company, and if they're dropping crap near the site we have to pay to clear it up.
