  1. I put some new plates on at the weekend... in the end I used a combination of a couple of sticky pads to initially hold it into place, but the main "adhesive" was some transparent sealent I found in the garage!.. I keep checking it and it's totally solid now but flexible enough not to shatter or crack under vibration of the car. If I want to remove.. it's a simple hot-air gun job
  2. I dont really read the papers.. Example.. a few months ago a female driver and her male pasanger were travelling down through lincolnshire, back from a day at the races.. both of them over the alcohol limit. They loose control of their Merc Sports car at high speed and wipe out a young couple standing on the hard shoulder waiting for a breakdown service for their car. They were killed instantly. The occupiers of the vehicle are now appealing against their "guilty" verdict based on their claim that one of the jurors said "they are guilty as hell" prior to the hearing. They are now having a re-trial shortly looking for early release arguing that they're verdict was biased. Ok so this isnt "murder".. but surely any court with an ounce of sensibility would deny them the right to appeal, let alone an early release after only a matter of months. They were over the limit, they killed two people from reckless driving. Now they could be released in a matter of months. Where is the punishment?
  3. Totally agree here.. kids are untouchable. A few of my friends are Teachers at various schools.. and the amount of abuse they get is unreal. When I was at school, i wouldnt dare call a teacher a "c*nt".. or tell one of the female teachers "she had nice t*ts". I knew if I acted badly I'd get a world of **** landing on me from the school, my parents.. I would have that fear when my dad got home in case i'd get a 'hiding' as we called it. There is no disicpline today. Thats the problem. Parents and the state are to blame. Just look at the other end of the spectrum. You commit murder, you go to jail for what.. 10 years after appeal? If the state cannot punish the harshest of crimes, what hope is there for disicplining the younger generation in morals and respect?
  4. I remember my first ever "tape" in in my first ever car was a prodigy mix-tape.. my 1983 Mk1 Golf never knew what hit it... .. my first ever CD however was Will Smith's "Getting Jiggy With it"!
  5. More than most are getting!

Can anyone point me in the direction of Mattig steel wheels?.. I cant seem to find anywhere on the net that sells them..

    ap coilovers,

lol, everywhere I looked for reviews were people saying their "getting a set soon". I was really tempted to get the PhilJ's however the corrosion factor put me off.. there's no point in spending £150 on collies, only for them to seize up, lose their functionality, and corrode after a year or two.. you'll only have to spend more the next time replacing them. I'm aiming to fit mine within the next two weeks (they arrive today).. paying that little bit more gives you that peice of mind though.
  13. I've done other doorhandles in the past, but you have to be really persistant with the paint if your doing it yourself.. it will wear overtime, and your prob best leaving the units on and masking off the door. If I were you, I'd pay a bodyshop to do it.. the finish will be quality, and the work guaranteed
  14. In the middle of taking off the side strips on my Loop and thought i'd update this relevent thread. After taking one side off, i've got some small scratches and 'blemishes' so to speak.. however i've got her booked in for a professional power-buffing and wax on wednesday so i'll let you know the results and "if it works!"..
  15. Excellent.. i'll give that one a go
  16. I go my Loop today! So the first port of call was the side protector strips.. grrr!.. Does anyone have a proven method for getting them off??.. I spent ages today with a hot air gun and lots of "picking at it".. managed to get most of one side off.. the rest i'll do on sunday... but does anyone have an easier method I could try?.. Are there any products to help remove the glue from the paintwork?..
  17. After much deliberation.. I ordered my AP Coilovers today from Awesome Out of all the options, I felt the AP's were just above the budget ones in terms of quality and longevity.. soooo... will hopefully have them fitted in a couple of weeks and will give you an update as to how they 'ride'
  18. So i'm looking at wheels.. some are shiny.. some are black.. some are diamond cut.. some look kack... Anywho... enough rhyming Whats the difference between "polished".. and "diamond cut". I'm keen on the Compo Th's in that diamond cut.. but their colour is described as "black"?.. Is the silver version of them not polished and shiny as well?..
  19. Hey folks.. I have a question... Would 15 x 8's fit ok on a lowered 1.0e?.. Has anyone got any pics they can post up of 8inch wide wheels on a non-GTi Lupo please?..
  20. Cheers Scoob.. i've updated the "coilover sticky" with current up to date PhilJ prices and contact info. Going to email him this week methinks.
