3rd fuse under bonnet (gti) a 15A was blown. I been doing my research and it seems its meant to be a 20A anyway! Some people have even put a 30A in it! Shall I put a 20A back in it?

What are people going for now? Its only a cheap daily so dont need ultimate performance, but nothing poo either. Costs seem rather high then I remember when I originally had my GTI. Any advice on where to get and prices Im looking at? Seems £70 trade for cheap rubbish is best I can get!

Good point. I should have thourght of that as I had a load of blown ones when I brought car and replaced them all. Checked them all 2 days later and non had blown again so presumed all was good. 1st job tomorrow morning

Been driving my GTI happily never overheating etc.... They had to get cat warm for MOT today and the car overheated as the fan wouldnt come on! Guage goes up fine and stays at 90 when driving. At standstill warming cat up guage goes over 100 and car overheats and fan wont come on. I have taken connector off rad to find its a 3 pin connector. Any idea what pin is what? What would you test? Multimeter the connector and get car to overheat or give fan 12V and see if it works? Im guessing its not thermostat as I get reading fine on dash. Im guessing its either fan switch (which could be a 2 pin or a 3 pin on a AVY engine, parts company list a 3 pin and a 2 pin for it) or could be fan thats knacked. Are fan switches common to go? Anything else it could be?
