yawn, another dig about cheap coilovers the guys only asking if phil-j is still about you want a low car for not much cash these are fine in fact in my experiance to seriously get better youve got to spend £500-plus but of course the forum know-all's will say something completely different

smoothing the air box makes no differance what so ever infact some of the ridges in the air box actually disrupt the air flow so theres a better air/fuel mix manufacturers spend millions on air box design to get the optiom air/fuel flow then you go and smooth the box,why wasnt it done by vw in the first place

bottom/back of the sump you will have to remove the engine/poop shield if its still there,to access the sump nut

Stretched tyres, how do insurance feel about them?
bithmeister replied to marcusgrant's topic in Insurance
ffs dont you kids do anything thats close to being a little risky anymore run a little stretch, keep it to your self the simple answer is dont drive like a plank and you wont crash hence no insurance issues -
bbs rm and rs splits nothing else and i mean NOTHING else goes on my loop nice combination that doesnt rub are 7" on the front 7.5" on back
-
12yan top lad ,down to earth, nice to talk too and passionate about his lupos

take em out and ,let it settle and see what it looks like if you think it looks wrong whack em back in personally think it will look the dogs plus once its lowered dont think you will need spacers
-
de catting made mine feel slightly punchier through the gears, but it was slightly nosier to so sounded faster no top end differance and the light will come on,not a problem if youve got vag-com u just keep turning it off i bined mine and put the cat back in, tbh it was a waste of 80 quid

model no and offset are under the center cap on rm/rs's

nowt wrong with CHEAP coilovers, despite what the experts on here say :lol Ive ran set of cheap ta technix now for 5k+ they've been faultless with stretch tyres and the rear adjusters out, the ride is great, the handling is great, life is great ok the front threads are most probably seizes but the height is set to how i want it so its not getting touched the performance between cheap and expensive isn't justified in the extra hundreds of £ ok if your doing track days then perhaps, but if you just want to slam your car and drive it -like 99% of every one on here then CHEAP is ok oh ind Ive had expensive a set of d1's all singing, all dancing fully adjustable absolute cack they lasted a week

which bbs are they? rm.o12 are et33 with a standard 0.5" dish, do the ones you are looking at defiantly have an inch dish?and are 7.5" wide? they could be rm.006,think these came with larger barrels, there more likely to be rm.012's with 1.5" dishes, there again they could be rs's Ive ran rm's that are 7.5" wide at the rear, with 165/50/15 tyres rear arch modified and the coilovers fully down with the adjusters out perfect no rubbage even with 4 adults in the car, this was a gti not sure if you will get the arch clearance to go low in a sport/non gti though
-
ive seen that one think it comes from brixworth
-
heres when i ran 16" d90's the fronts were 7" and once the offset was sorted with hub adapters the et was around et30 this is the front 7" with a 165/40/16 i love strech but this was too much but if you run 45's instead of 40's you will get a little more side wall so the strech shouldnt be as bad they shouldnt rub,im sure dom ran some 16's on yours ill ask him its very trial and me and dom have been through 20+ sets of wheels over the past few years ive finally found the style and size i want
-
there you go 17" on a gti ran 205/40/17 et 35,no rubbing no rear arch work at the time fronts rubbed slightly on the arch liner on full lock-not a problem the ride /handling was ok,but was much better on 16" porsche d90's but personally for looks and handling you wont beat 15" wheels
-
A reasonable amount of stretch is fine those kids spouting off about it should be illegal and is dangerous have probably never ran wheels with it so don't have a clue
-
hi welcome lovely car i used to polish it a lot,was doms dub gti of here, though he sold his white gti so he doesn't come on much plus he's emigrating in 2 weeks-lucky git hope your wife enjoys her
-
go for a little stretch, though,165/50/15 on a 6.5 rim wont really be a stretch, unless you go for bridgestones stretch is the way forward, loops look poop hot with stretch ignore all the sensible teenagers on here-except silver, like me he'd like to be a teenager again just do it believe thats doms old gti ,still looks nice
-
yep lighter than the anthracite but slightly darker than silver all silver is gash on wheels imo
-
when you say bulkhead do you mean piece behind the engine, that has the vin no stamped into it? if so mine is steel also 99% sure the cup cars had alloy bonnets
-
