  1. And if that's the case, Optimax may in fact cause a wee bit of harm....!
  2. Yeah agree with tshirt2k - you can pick up packs of shady spacers from Halfrauds for not much. Is it a Gti or not? Gti's have slightly wider arches by `5-10mm` i think, meaning wider wheels might be ok. `30-40mm` isn't a massive drop on a Loop, and if the correct tyres are used (195/45's or even thinner for that streeetched look!) you may be ok. My Sport comes with 185/55/14's (standard - Kylami) and I've dropped it substantially, and they only scrub occasionally. IMO you may struggle when dropped on a `non-Gti`, but a Gti may be able to squeeze them in even when lower. The only way to know for sure is to test with other wheel and spacer combos. Obviously tho if you're prepared to spend a bit on arch work then nearly any size is possible!
  3. Yeah they are quite expensive tho, although looking at the quality of the work on their site I can see why. I mailed them a while back for a quote and they said they hadn't done a Lupo before, but that I'd be looking at around £500 all in. They tend to focus on big bikes and Porsches - but the systems are so sweet I'd be looking to show off the pipework somehow with it poking out from under the bodywork somewhere! Speshly if you're punting £500 at it!
  4. Yeh I'll put them in reader's rides once it's sorted - just waiting for the boy to send me them from Germany.... Scared!
  5. Hehe it was probably me yeh, my mate lives just around the corner from there! The Corsa boys love a bit of Loop action - I'm still to find one of them to come close to the Sport, but the little chavs still try every time off the lights!
  6. Yeah it's just the tyres I'm after. I've actually just spoken to the guys in my local Farmer's tyre place (as in Kwik Fit's founder Tom Farmer) I didn't expect they'd be able to help out, but the manager said they'd fit anything for me! I've been quoted 70 each fitted for Dunlop SP Sport 9000's, which is pretty good considering I wont have to travel at all to see them! Cheers for your help anyway guys.
  7. Yeah the handle's do feel really weak which is a shame, but pleased to say I haven't snapped mine yet. As for the rattling, have a wee look at the under tray as tdwindustries suggests - it's a small plastic try thing that sits underneath the sump of the engine. I've clipped mine many a time off of bumps in the road, and even off cat's eyes if I'm really booting it!
  8. Mad that actually mate - I've had both those probs with my Sport! My LHS door hinge loosened off but was tightened on my first service - could have done that myself really! The drive by wire thing is something I've found quite annoying tho since swapping from a 1L Mk3 Polo. The car itself was obviously much slower, but the throttle response was instant compared with my Loop. I'm getting used to it, but still find that I stall occasionally due to the engine reacting too slow to pedal input. Accelerating and changing gear also requires mad timing - totally different to other cars I've driven. Don't get me wrong, the Lupo's sweet to drive, but it's certainly the one thing that annoys me! Don't think we could meet up to show you tho - I'm up in Edinburgh unless you're up for a drive.

    Chassis Mod

Here's one for ya - my mate reckons that when dropping Renault 5GTT's, you have to adjust the ABS settings also as the lower car changed the way the system reacted, causing the rear wheels to lock. Does this make any sense, and if so, should the same apply to our cars?

    Body kits?

The majority of all the bodykits will fit any Lupo including the Sport, but not the GTI as they have wider arches. They look hella sexy without a kit anyway!
  11. I drove my car for ages before sorting the alignment and tracking etc while I was waiting for my wheels. It handled well on the new coilovers, but has worn my front tyres inner edge quite a lot. I've since had the tracking sorted, but they can't adjust the camber due to the type of coilovers fitted. The negative camber is around -1.3deg L+R, so when flung into a corner the roll of the body and other components should settle it out a wee bit, and I don't find I have any problems from it. It's important to get the L+R running at exactly the same height as well, as the adjustment for height is minute when running the lockrings down the body of the shock. Metal ruler time!
  12. Yeah the meet was really good, cheers for making the effort guys. We'll def have to do it again, and hopefully by then I'll have some phat `rim-age` too!
  13. Yeah that's a point it was pretty backed up when we drove thru recently. It'll just make it more of a challenge!
  14. Half 2 would suit me fine. Might be a bit of a scetchy drive thru town if I'm sufferin from the night before, but it'll be worth it!
  15. I've got a `de-badged` 3slat grill and I've used the insert. My car's black so the line is only obvious from close. Want to get it filled properly tho soon.
  16. I've got a Halloween Party on that Sat night, so getting up and out in the car any earlier than `mid-afternoon` is probably gonna be a problem! Does around 2/3 ish sound about right or will that be a struggle for anyone?
  17. It's cool I was just checking to see if anyone else was from Edinburgh to meet with beforehand but it's not a prob.
  18. I agree mate, the finish looks really good. It may not be to everyone's taste on here but no need to give the guy grief! Mods should be down to personal opinion, otherwise we'd all be driving exactly the same motor!
  19. I'm actually in South Queensferry visting my bird's family on Sunday, so any time should be alright I reckon. Are you coming out from Edinburgh Paddy?
  20. Yeah lookin good mate. How low is it, and how big are those wheels? I was thinkin of getting skirts, but as you say they come up hella low once the car's been dropped - they'll eat `cats-eyes`!
  21. It looks like a proper quality job mate, nice one. It needs slammed now tho, and see how much the guys who sorted it for you could paint the lower sections on the front and rear bumpers to finish it off, cos that'll visually bring it all lower too. Yellow and chrome looks proper bling stylee!
  22. It's made by JE Designs, and you can look at it more at: http://www.cessories.net/lupo/exterior/jedesign.shtml Enjoy!

  24. I want to get 195/45's stretched over my 8" rims, but the guy I spoke to in Auto Image in Edinburgh said he wouldn't do it. I've seen it done on plenty cars before, and Styledynamix and Dubmeister say they do it every day, but they're a bit far away just to get some tyres put on! Can anyone recommend someone around the Edinburgh/Glasgow area who might be able to help?
