  1. Well it's not that they are dangerously bad, I have driven cars with worse (my parents rover 418d!!) and I guess been used to a racing kart that will lock the back-wheels up with a brush of the pedal doesn't help, but I am always expecting them to be a bit more reactive with a harder bite....
  2. Has anyone else found that the brakes on the 1.4s are pretty crap? They don't seem to have much feel or much bite either compared to a few of my friends cars that I've driven. What is the cheapest way of upgrading them to something a bit more urgent?
  3. Maybe not but I had an interesting experience the other day. Was ragging it with a silver clio behind me, and he wasn't getting any closer, he then went past me as I slowed down and I was behind him with him giving it some and he pulled away very slightly, maybe 1/2 a car before we came to some lights. He wound the window down and motioned for me to do the same and I noticed it was 2.0l clio! Bloke says to me, 'bloody hell mate is that a 1.4!' What have you done to make it go so fast!' I just replyed nothing, and he was still amazed as he drove off. Make of it what you will but there is no denying that these little lupos are pretty nippy!
  4. I'm not sure, my 1.4s isn't too high and although I've never seen a sport side by side with it, a guy I knew had one and I don't remember it looking any lower. There might be like 20mm's in it or something - not something you would notice unless you were really looking for it I would have thought.
  5. Hey, I've got a 1.4s (17), insurance is £740 TPFT under my mums name (pussy I know but the only way I could afford it). It was something like £1500 for fully comp under my mums name and £2K+ for myself!
  6. Defintely go for one, I would love a GTi if it wasn't for the insurance! My dad had a 2.4 Accord Exec as well, was pretty nippy when the VTEC kicked in as you say!
  7. Since you have the 'S' you'll be wanting the one for the 75bhp lupo style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Don't know what the hell a vector cap is but just buy that one and you should be fine!
  8. There isn't too much difference between the engines I don't think; both 16V for a start... But the main reason I went for the S was the group 3 insurance, if that isn't an issue definitely go for the sport.
  9. From what I have seen lowering it (the amount is debatable, some insist it has to be 60mm!) makes a heck of difference to the looks. Also the standard 1.4s wheels are crap - luckily mine already came with some nice rims so change them too - that will largely be down to your personal taste I would have thought. I'm sure others will chip in with the best performance mods but if you do a search there is plenty of info availiable!
  10. Hi mate, I just got a 1.4s in black, it looks awesome and the pace is suprising, just had a bloke in a 2.0 clio stop next to me at the lights after a little blast and he was gob-smacked that it was a 1.4! Only ins. group 3 and with a small outlay you can get to sport or above power figures (exhaust, intake, re-map). Go for it mate (but get black or silver, other colous look naff IMO!) Dan
  11. That looks pretty good, I might drop AAS an email style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. Tigz, have you got any pics of yours with the side-exit on? Dan
  13. hehe try my dads 430hp Monaro style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  14. That's right, mines a 1.4s and it has '16V' on the engine.
  15. I wouldn't associate the word 'fast' with a 1.0l lupo, I went in one and it was horrific lol. 1.4s has a nice bit of poke but even that struggles if you're caught out in the wrong gear, the 1.0l thought would be endlessly worse though!
  16. I am very interested in the bumper, can you PM me details?
  17. Crikey that is spooky lol! Do you know what alloys they are? I want to get her lowered first because it is relatively cheap and makes a huge difference to the looks and then maybe a jetex cat-back but I haven't decided yet. I don't know whether to tint or not though, what is the general consensus with black?
  18. Yeah it's got the stubby mirrors, I quite like the look of them lol. And I had noticed that some of them had the headrests with a hole in which mine didn't have, I don't particularly like those ones tbh! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Yep it has the standard exhaust and airbox - something I am looking at changing lol!
  19. Picked up my black beast on Sunday and I have to say, it has surpassed my every expectation. Firstly, the speed is remarkable for a little 1.4 with only 75hp. I have some experience of fast cars (my dad had a Monaro running 430bhp) but the Loop is suprisingly nippy - especially in 1st gear where it just lets rip! I took out a friend who has one of the old new mini's and he was blown away by the speed and the sound which I have to say is gorgeous. It loves to be revved and the sound is raucous and racy - I love it! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> As you can see in the picture, it already has fairly nice alloys on it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" /> but I think a 40mm drop would set it off brilliantly! Cheers guys and I look forward to a few years of happy motoring! Dan
  20. I've done a bit of searching on this and I couldn't find a conclusive answer. I know Jetex does one that comes out of the centre but I want to integrate it for the 'sport' look. Can you get a bodyshop to cut the required hole or do you have to buy a whole new rear bumper (I think Reiger do one)? Cheers style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  21. Well I've got loads lol, my dad had a Monaro V8 which was extensively modified to 450bhp so I learnt a bit about the modding scene then. It already has a nice set of rims on it so I just want to lower it 40mm all round (IMO looks better than 60), put a cat-back on it for a nice sound and get some window tints and possibly a re-map or chip. When I turn 18 I'll probably go for a bit more power with manifolds, cams TB's etc. but that is all cash-flow dependant!! I am thinking of getting powerflow to make me a custom exhaust; I like loudish exhausts (not boy-racer style loud) and since you can customise the sound with Powerflow that is probably the best option. The only thing that bugs me about the 'S' is the lack of centre exit exhaust. Is it possible to get an insert or something to make it look like the sport or do you need a whole rear bumper? Cheers, Dan
  22. That looks awesome, where did that bonnet with angry looking eyebrows come from?
  23. Great to be here, getting a Black Lupo 1.4 S for my first car - picking it up in a weeks time style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Dead excited and already prowling around for mods style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Many questions to follow style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
