  1. dash is in, fun has been had. about 70 miles of fun whilst going nowhere. I'd recommend this to anyone. worth the hassle, the pain, the wait. Everything. Tomorrow I'm driving it to London. Rich
  2. change of plan. it works. putting the dash back in and going for a spin. feck yeah.
  3. After eight days of pretty much hardcore work and many fags I'm calling it and going to Crete for three weeks. These pics are the car as it stands now, asides from some cleaning up of the crap inside that's how it is going to stand. Everything works asides from being riddled with fault codes and the fly by wire not responding. brakes, clutch, lights rewired, wide track, everything is done. now for some awaited pics. despite the work done and the conversion being achieved I can't help but feel deflated that I can't take it out for a spin. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" />
  4. I'm on my eighth day of conversion. you need everything basically. it's not an easy job. I wouldn't like to price this at a garage.

that wasn't my neighbour. it was someone visiting one of the ingrates a couple of doors down. people are so impolite.
  6. errrrrm, yes. There are absolutely no loose connections. tomorrow's another day. Rich
  7. there's no brake fluid in the car, it's on stands till tomorrow, reckon that would be a safety thing ?
  8. can't get it to anywhere with vag com, would a fault code stop it though? if it worked I could get it on vag no problem style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

you don't want to know how I got around it. I'm going to chop out the GTI well and weld it in, I had to do a temporary fit to mine and it's got a large hole in it now. I got over zealous today and took a bit more out than I should have. It's the one part of this that I haven't done properly so far. Had to be done though, Chris (of 260 fame) polished me pipe yesterday style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  10. I'm almost there except when the pedal is pressed nothing happens. I have no idea about fly by wire, what relay is it ? in fact what's up with it. if it's fixed via here I promise I'll post up a video tomorrow. fair deal ? cheers. Rich

you'll see it at VWFEST. it houses a VR6. I've literally just called it a night, the engine runs, the exhaust is on and exiting in the centre, the bumper needs modifying on a temp basis, the brakes and clutch are being bled tomorrow. Wheels on, sort the fly by wire problem out and it's good to go. it now starts though, it cools itself, it's all good. Dash is inside as well, tomorrow night it goes. Rich
  12. I'm suprised nobody has mention the obligatory shot for new girls joining. sheesh, nobody on here has any manners. Rich
  13. why focus on the whole issue of who sold it and what's up with it? instead of the bickering we should be rallying around to get this sorted. Rich
  14. still offering you some standard lights, well I was till luke acquired them.

that's nothing, since the shell is going on Saturday (the doors and hatch are coming off and it gets dragged away), the structural integrity of the rear arch was tested, not to mention the lying on the roof ability. It tends to just reshape itself around whatever is on top. Rich

cheers Chris. It's looking completely different now, the front end is on. Tino put one of the old steelies under the GTI tonight and it looks fairly mental. it's got carl camber ! see you tomorrow.

the wishbone difference, well there isn't one. it's all in the gearbox mount on the subframe. it didn't match anywhere near so I had to drop the whole front end off the GTI and onto mine. That means I had to do the rears. Day five tomorrow. the inside is mostly back together though. Rich

about 2" at either side. The bathursts are et48 and they basically only fit. ****** goes those cups I've been refurbing. I guess it's a sign that this should require something special on the wheel front ?

On Saturday I started a lupo GTI conversion in my 1.4 S. Instead of being a simple engine in job it became a lot more intricate. After realising I'd have to drop in a lot more parts than I originally thought I decided ****** it and that I'd do a complete re shell of the GTI. after working every day when the weather allows I've got to the point tonight where I can finally fire it and see if it goes, well the news is that first time it didn't, then I plugged in the ecu. Then it sparked, fuel got through and it kicked over, now it kicks every single time (not many as the radiator isn't on) however success. Tonight (after food) I'm going to reinstall the carpet and the dash and then it's plain sailing at doing the final finishing touches to be back on the road on Friday. One week to do a complete full on conversion ? Not bad timing I don't think. Rich P.S. Chris, you can slap up some pics if you like, I'm feeling stupidly excited now, it's all finishing touches.
  20. and here's me who had TWO of these sacred chrome lifters. I never realized how special I was at that point in my life. Rich

    I'm New :)

    16 in august, 16 in august, 16 in august. . . . . . . . I'm not patient, I can't be your friend style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> joking, hey.
  22. You should have asked, I gave it to Chris, free. it's mostly up for free looting although it's now basically entirely reshelled into mine. wonder if the rain has stopped? Rich
  23. also got some front speakers kicking about. . . . . . . Rich
  24. the engine mounting on the bottom wouldn't line up. then you'd have to change the subframe like someone else I know. . . . .
  25. I've go a load of exhaust mountings, not to mention a non leaking power steering pump. I'd suggest you check the bolts that go into the pump have both washers on, they're like a fuel line in that respect. Rich
