  1. 1. Google is your friend: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_Arosa 2. no. Mileage and condition are not mutually exclusive. If it has history (i.e evidence) that it has been looked after and serviced regularly then the mileage becomes irrelevant apart from a value judgement.

    Tow bars?

there's a towbar on my TDI, a swan neck jobbie, shall have a squint in the daylight tomorrow and see what make etc...
  3. Probably the diff if you have lots of noise down there. If the tolerances are shot (side to side slop etc) then you get torque steer. One driven wheel off the ground at a time and in neutral they should spin reasonably freely allowing for the drag in the gearbox, I'm pretty sure if both are off the ground and you spin one the other should turn the other way (unless an LSD).
  4. yep, old and worn needs thicker oil. Use your thin stuff as a flush thru and drop it after a week or two.
  5. A piece of wood to act as a drift and a hammer, or two hammers and use one handle as the drift and whack it round with the other one.
  6. Also, check your wheel nuts. Check your hub nut too. Edit to add: I've had brake pad separation before, where the friction material comes off the metal backing and then rattles around in the caliper, it sounded exactly like a wheel bearing gone.
  7. Check the belt for tension and contamination, it could just be slipping.
  8. grease has gone hard? or maybe the balls are jammed. Apply some heat and see if it helps.
  9. Its the flywheel and clutch under there, not the gearbox wet internals, so no it doesnt matter if it was open, just try not to drop anything in there LOL. Not sure what it's for maybe TDC markings or just inspection.
  10. Thanks, This is the 1.4 polo box, is it missing the selector bits off the back or something?
  11. I would have taken the glow plugs out to give it no compression and put some acetone down the one with the crud and spun it over. Your injector tip may not be happy after that ordeal either.
  12. Diesel Lupo Reg date march 1st 2001 onwards are £30 tax, before that reg date they are £230 for the 1700 sdi. Double check the reg date or check against the plate here: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax If that lists the co2 emmisions then it's VED banded and you can look it up as to how much that band is.
  13. Got a lupo 1.0 mpi with sad gearbox. Will pretty much any 085 box go in? What about polo boxes? Like for like or doesnt it matter too much, just think about gear ratios a bit? Any difference in clutch, flywheels, spline count etc? There a polo 1.4 085 box available you see LOL Or would i be better off rebuilding mine with a bearing kit? Cheers
