  1. Roughly 5K miles ago... The rear brakes and discs was needed for replacement. So I had got the new pads and discs, but noticed the passenger side calliper was knackered (Dust cover came off and piston rusted) Replaced both callipers (Second hand) and replaced passenger brake line as it had snapped, then bled the brakes. Had a look today and the pads are almost ready for replacing again! What can cause the rear pads to wear a lot faster than the front? Is there a brake bias somewhere? (I also need to adjust my handbrake as it is needed to be raised to the sky to stop the car rolling , but cant see this wearing the pads out as some people ask to see if the handbrake is on slightly causing it to drag the rear pads, wearing them out faster?) Cheers James
  2. Mk2 arosa drivers headlight, intact please... Mk2 drivers wing in black (LO41) Regards James
  3. Right then, finally update time ? Start with the sport, Just been driving this daily. Gearbox had died, already had a polo GTI box so replaced gearbox fluid and overfilled with 1 pint extra, been told this will help the top bearings. Still going strong so hopefully that will last. As paintwork is shocking its not been kept clean as it actually looks better dirty ?? GTI... More work has been put into getting it back on the road With it being a rare car, finding parts cheaply has been a bit of effort... Although I've now managed to almost finished the interior, all that is needed now is rear door cards with speaker holes. Managed to get the front end in a fashion... The top bumper is perfect and in primer, although the bottom is bodged ? came from a front end smashed GTI and I've plastic welded and put screws were neccasey to make it work ? itll do for time being till a better and cheaper part comes up for sale. Managed to fit pop out windows aswell, and picked up a cheap passenger wing, although i think its in a different silver colour. Just now need front lights, rear bumper and many bolts to make it back to standard. Seat arosa is now for sale, I have the logbook. Anybody want it cheap? Before I chuck some MOT on it?
  4. If I'm correct... That's your oil breather pipe. It removes excess fumes and oil from the crankcase due to pressure in that system. The pipe goes from the crankcase and directly into the airbox, and the fumes and oil are reburnt. Hope that helps, maybe search this forum more about the oil breather pipe, there are quite a few threads about it.
  5. Im not entirely sure on the Polo GTi hubs.... Lupo sport hubs will work, although I believe the callipers are slightly different as the sport and Lupo GTI use different size pads (GTI pads slightly thicker) Will GTI callipers work on lupo sport hubs... I wouldn't see why not? I did this conversion using Lupo Sport Hubs and carriers http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/99770-jamess-lupo-ketty/
  6. 1. No they wouldn't just bolt on, you will need full hub as 1.0 hubs have carriers built in. 2. Once converted to gti hubs, I believe you only need the g60 carrier to have larger discs. 3. Not sure :/ Hope that helps a little
  7. As title says... Rear bumper, Preferred in silver Passenger wing.. Silver if possible Pair of headlights Front bumper grill and badge Cheers James
  8. So the polo GTI box I'm fitting to the sport... I've refilled the gearbox oil normally till oil comes out the filler port. I've then added a further 400ml to it (hopefully the box won't explode :/) I've also used 80w/90 oil. Have to see soon if it will make any difference.
  9. Does anyone know where I can find the plastic/rubber strips that run along the bars? and where I can get VW badges for the bars?
  10. I got told recently by someone who deals with the gearboxes is to actually overfill the gearbox with 1/2 a litre, apparently not enough oil gets to the 5th gear bearings?? By no means I am saying this is correct or anything Although I have a gearbox swap soon, and shall be filling up to the oil fill port then adding an extra 1/2 litre. Have to see how it goes... Also what gearbox oil would people recommend? 75w/90 is the standard, has anyone used different such as 80w/90?
  11. Not updated in a while... nothing major has really happened, just been plodding along constantly fixing things First thing first, If anyone needs any amazing quality key-rings go see 'T3LLIOTT' House of Logo's Top set of people! Drivers window regulator broke did a bodge... but fixed properly now by replacing clips. Wipers and windscreen washer jets also work after like 6 months (Took squirters from ketty... why did the sport ones have wires where as new ones dont?) Had a set of callipers spare so had some free time to refurb them, thought id try red on black . Got a bit bored other week back so had a bit of fun making a roof rack... The finished product No real plans for it tbh just thought Id see how it looks Finally managed to get all the standard black plastics in the car so all the white plastic is out and for sale Had to swap back to the BBS RX2 as the Borbet A's cant take weight in the back of the car as they catch the arches... Other news... saved this from the scrappys Not sure on the plan for this.. just waiting on news for something else Possibly rebuild it back to standard or stripped Most of the car is there, just missing -front and rear bumpers -passenger wing -headlights -grab handles -sun visors -seatbelts -rear door cards -wing mirror covers -seats Obviously all the most expensive bits
  12. This being a Drivers window regulator... Are the glass clamps facing the correctly way before I put them on permantly?
  13. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/89091-haksters-silver-gti-oem/page-10 This shows a good way of doing it... Multi fitment aswell.
  14. Same thing happened with me for dead battery. Best to get the battery tested.
  15. very nice! All those optional extras! and a glovebox
  16. Anybody got 1 VW starlite alloy? As seen here...
  17. Just a firm pull will remove it... If anyone needs to know...
  18. One end is just a clip but how is the round bit removed from the ignition side without breaking it? Does it just pull off?
  19. Hi, Not sure on buying pre-made boxes...but many people make there own boot builds Take a look at these (specifically the false floor builds) http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/9187-members-ice-install/
  20. You do Saw the lupo today, looks nice, have to stop by one time and have a look
  21. Haven't updated this in a while... (Mainly because not much interesting has happened ) Well, I finally got round to stripping ketty Everything was pretty simple to be honest, even removing the engine was fairly easy. The bit which gave the biggest issue were the front wings which turned out to be a nightmare to remove Was a bit of a shame to scrap a tidy shell but onto bigger and better things now Not much has happened to the sport in the meantime, just general repairs and sprucing up. Did manage to get hold of some OEM roof bars But did have issue with them in transport as the company managed to bend the FL foot So took it someone with a better knowledge of bending metal back and they did a great job getting it back to shape The drivers window wouldn't go fully up due to the crap design of the windows... The glass wouldn't stay in the clip so would go up at an angle and jam... managed to sort that out without to much hassle A bigger problem I have had is that the drivers check strap has rotted meaning the 2 bolt holes that hold the check strap to the door are no longer there... so no more check strap Only photo I have, if you look at the bottom that is where the 2 holes should have been GTI aluminium doors are now needed. I haven't really shown many photos of the sport as the bodywork is terrible but ah well, here are some... As you can see the bodywork is FAR from good... hopefully the sport will be back of the road soon to have a full body repair/respray and have the 1.6 GTI lump in Now with the Arosa sport, still haven't got round to the VIC check, might leave it till October as it shouldn't then need one. Then either run that whilst the white sport is off road or put it up for swaps only and run whatever that would be? More than likely up for swaps as fancy something a little different
  22. Has anyone swapped a MK1 Arosa dash for a MK2? Is it a straight swap? Wiring all the same? bolts all line up? heater controls and such the same? If anyone has done it please let me know Cheers James
  23. Welcome! SDI aren't to bad really from what I've heard, sluggish but will run forever Would like to know more about this engine swap!
