  1. That's a great price, considering that it's KW, but...yes, the budget is killing me too. My finances have other directions right now, so I will most likely wait until June or so.
  2. That's what I was thinking about. A nice set of springs will drop it with about 40mm. Still, my rear shock absorbers had better days, so going for a full suspension might be a better idea in these conditions.
  3. The weather was perfect this weekend, so my Loop is now in summer mode. I've also added some yellow film on the markers, but I'm still not sure about the way it looks. Plans for the upcoming weeks include color coding the door handles and changing the light bulbs with Philips WhiteVision. As for the eternal problem, ride height...I'm still not decided upon coilovers, even though it would look awesome.
  4. Finally, some snow around here. Took this pretty cool (if you ask me) snapshot this morning:
  5. I was thinking about replacing my parking lights with CREE (that's how the ones in the second picture are called, as far as I know) leds too, since they're actually the brightest available. Are these any good, compared to SMD leds?
  6. Went to a wedding a few weeks ago and the guy who took the photos was a VW fan, with a modded MK4. Just received this really nice snapshot of my Blue Loop
  7. Hey, Nothing new lately, as my finances had some other directions. The whole interior got cleaned with a steam vacuum and it looks really good now. Next week, I'm putting the steelies on, as it seems that we're going to have snowy days earlier than expected.
  8. What tyres do you have right now? For a 1.4, 6.2/100 km in those conditions is more than decent. Last time I got home from college (~300 km, that crappy Defileul Jiului included), I got 5.2...
  9. That wheel...it's..it's beautiful! Man, I can't wait to get mine done. It's the only thing that's ruining the interior.
  10. Saw the loop on Facebook, in the photoshoot from the Streetmaniacs event...man, I'd love to get there one day How much for making the steering wheel like that? Mine needs the same treatment soon, as it kinda ruins the look of the interior.
  11. Many thanks! Took a whole hour to make it and apply the stripes but it was worth it.
  12. Mirror is done: I'm not so sure about it...maybe keeping the checkered version would've been better. Any thoughts?
  13. This whole transparency/opacity thing is creating confusions ) The darkest tint you can get is the one which has "Transparency 5%" written on that tiny label the service applies.Mine has 20% transparency, hence 80% opacity. Everything is legal, I did my research before doing this. I don't have any on the front windows, since that's not legal anymore. A few months/years ago, you could apply it to your front windows too, but you were supposed to stick to 70% transparency, or something like that. It looks way better with a layer of tint on the front windows too, but hey, the law is the law...
  14. 20% transparency. Nope, it was done at a service, but the dude had just one of those stickers with "authorized window tint", so I'm going tomorrow to apply two more on the sides.
  15. It's been a while since the last update, so here's how my Loop looks now: Yesterday, the patient went through surgery again and one tappet was replaced. The oil and filters were also changed, while the plastic surgery implied applying window tint. Next updates will be Osram Cool Blue Intense bulbs, yellow tint on the projectors and the checkered pattern from the rearview mirror will be replaced with this: Some lows and refurbing the wheels are also in the plan, depending on my budget.
  16. If by smoothed bumpers you mean covering the places for the number plates, I'd think twice about doing the rear bumper. I did some photoshop on mine after color coding the bumpers and I wasn't really pleased with the outcome. Makes the car's rear look too big. On the other side, a smoothed front bumper looks awesome.
  17. I was looking this week for some oil too and my first two picks were Castrol and exactly this type of Motul. Initially, I wanted to get Motul, but I've read that it's designed for bigger engines. Will it be ok if I'm gonna use it on my 1.0? Oh and I love your wheels.
  18. They're BBS RZ. Just search for pictures with the model and you'll see what caps you need. Hope it helps.
  19. I've examined the possibilities and I won't do it. I'll have too much colors on the car with that red stripe, so I'll stick just to soft blue, black and the silver of the rims and badges. Still, I'll give a shot to some yellow tint on the front signals.
  20. I'm thinking about painting my front grilles glossy black (including the one from the bumper) and also apply a red stripe, like this one has. Should I?
  21. If you can't tell after looking at them, just run your fingers over them and see if you can feel any imperfections on the surface, which should be perfectly plain. Also, since the tappets are hydraulic, see if any of them is blocked. Sorry if I'm not very clear. My English is not that good when it comes to mechanical terms.
  22. Had the same issue with my 1.0 too, with that awful diesel-like sound sometimes Turns out that a couple of tappets, in a very bad condition, were making the noise. A couple of them were also blocked, so the camshaft didn't receive enough oil. After a 200 km road, one of them broke down and ruined my camshaft. Changed 5 of them and the camshaft and the whole noise is gone now. I'd recommend checking them and replace the ones who don't look that good in order to avoid any future problems.
  23. Finally, after three weeks of service visits, open-hood surgery and a camshaft transplant, the patient is finally back on the road! Took her this night for a spin and I must admit that picking an open-air model was a perfect decision. You can't imagine the feeling of driving it during a warm summer night... A few updates are scheduled for the next weeks: tinted windows, a full polish and, possibly, yellow tint on the turning signals. Also, oil and filters change.
