  1. 20mm head, 6mm thread width, 20mm plug depth. I think the original plugs had a 15mm head but the other bits were the same. I had a look on my eBay history but unfortunately it was too long ago to find the same item
  2. I'd happily swap my insurance premium for a 19 year old hip. Any takers?
  3. Is it the flat head plugs, like a big clout nail? I bought some honda clips from eBay, took me ages to trawl through them all and find one that looked correct. The ones I found were a few mm bigger head than the original, but they fit anyway
  4. AUA is 75hp AUB is 100hp. Why would you want to downgrade?
  5. Have you phoned your VW dealership? I know it's unlikely it was last done at a main dealer give the age but you never know. In the service book I think it's called a "toothed belt", I'm guessing you've checked there?
  6. I don't know what's wrong with it but to remove them you need a pair of thin metal tools to poke in the small slit hole on either side. I used a tiny pair of scissors on both sides, most scissors won't fit. You can buy proper tools to do it, but anything flat and thin should do. Once pushed in the unit should easily slide out.
  7. They all have transponders in the key. You can remove the transponder from the old key and put it in the new key if the new key has the space for it. To take the old key apart you stick a small flat screw driver in the hole around the edge. The key with a small light is easier to take apart. If you get new keys with transponders you can also have them programmed to the car, but you will probably have to pay a locksmith to do this using a computer. You would also want to make sure you get the same physical cut for the key so it works your doors and ignition. You would probably have to declare after market central locking to your insurance.
  8. And check the door check strap on the drivers side. Mine is knackered and makes a helluva noise. Not easily repairable because it's the mount on the car frame that is gone. Always ask how many keys they have. If they have just one you will have to get a spare cut and programmed. Check if the spare tyre has ever been changed. You don't want to ever have to rely on a 15 year old tyre. Although not too expensive to replace you should factor it into the price.
  9. It's one cable but there will be two wires inside
  10. Each speaker needs a cable with 2 wires in it, yes From the radio to the amp will depend on your radio and amp, usually 2 RCA cables or 4 RCA cables, check the back of your stereo. (RCA are coaxial connectors) The 12v cable will be 2 wires also
  11. Excellent, thanks Just hope I can find a cheap one at a scrapyard. Shame there aren't any originals near me on eBay at the moment. Will the VW hub caps fit a non-standard (but same size) wheel?
  12. Does anyone know which of the standard steel wheels I will have on my car? I see from the Information thread that there are two 13inch steel wheels, one is 4.5 and the other 5.5, the tyres are 175/65/13. The car is a 1.4S 75HP. I tried decoding the option codes but C1R came up as 17inch alloys, so I guess that's another VW model. The tyre size calculator I've seen says that size tyre would need a 5-6.5 width wheel. Can anyone confirm? One of my wheels is slightly mishapen so I need to get a replacement. Thanks
  13. Any chance you could post a photo of this? My car has the same problem with the car side mount moving and snapping against the frame as it moves. Passenger side version doesn't move at all.
  14. The one that fits in the bottom of the double DIN slot? You should be able to fit any DIN sized device in there, I put in a CD Holder. Getting the old coin tray out was very hard and I had to use some tape to secure the new one in, but it's a standard sized slot.
  15. V reg is 13 years old, so no
  16. Yes because if something goes wrong it could leave your car insecure.

    Hello

Looks good Why the red wing mirrors?
  18. Looks great, did you respray the bonnet yourself?
  19. Did you switch the red and yellow wires around? VW have them the wrong way around so if you don't switch them around the memory power turns off with the ignition. (or when you remove the key)
  20. Are you sure someone isn't nicking your petrol out the car? Does your cap lock properly?
  21. Has it got anywhere to attach the rear knobs? On the VW unit it has a sticky out knob on the back that you can detach and it screwed into the centre hole on the back of my JVC unit. It looks something like this: http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_images/674/147674_090704115859_002.jpg The knobs fits into a hole at the back of the audio chamber and holds it relatively still. There's one hole for each DIN slot, so two for a double din
  22. Gender used to be a factor but they banned it
  23. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/96399-new-lupo/?p=1116322
  24. They are probably "dropship"ing the item straight from the manufacturer hence it's a different sender.
