  1. they are available to buy on the website on mytyres. 1 week for delivery.
  2. you get a spanner but no jack or wheel removing tool as there is no spare. you also get a 2 sided screwdriver thing with the spanner and a compressor with tyre inflate repair stuff. i also think you should get a mini fire extinguisher/warning triangle? seen a photo of one in a gti and i have big space still in my foam box thing for them, it might be only non uk market lupo that get them as all cars have to have them by law, except in the uk which doesnt mind if you get burnt or driven into.
  3. has anyone seen the parkers market comment which i saw in this months parkers guide in the shops? it says the" gti is impossible to sell for decent money". i dont know what this means or if its true. i dont understand it. and in fact as a statement its probably means nothing in reality.
  4. theirs going to be a 210bhp ish version of it soon in other models. also they have made a hybrid from it, removing the supercharger and attaching an electric motor making 175bhp still like the supercharged version.
  5. what happened to the car was it smashed up real bad?
  6. unless it has gone to court and vw has won then i would say that the customer has still the right to get any work done for no charge and even get compensation perhaps for the trouble. but vw know people dont like going to court and getting costly legal professional advice. magazines/tv shows can sometimes get them to do something without paying for legal services.
  7. better to have the 205/45/15 on the front and 195/45/15 on the back. this is how i have mine now. it keeps the front end correct gearing/speedo. better front traction. having 195 on one axle will lower it slightly aswell. having it slightly lower at back is my preference as it balances the weight distribution more.
  8. new info supersedes old service info but thats for vw to worry about. it's the fault of vw that its new, they would have to do the new service actions free of charge or if not then honor any claim if something went wrong using the old service schedule. its not the customers problem at all. otherwise its miss-selling the car.
  9. maybe vw recommend it is done at 40 k now but they can not back down on the service advice given at the time the car was sold new. as long as the car has been regularly serviced as per service instructions on owners manual provided, then a claim could be made against them. Even if the stamps in the book are from a small independent garage thats proof enough the car has been maintained to a suitable standard. as long as vw approved service parts/oils have been used perhaps.
  10. official service guide is 60k miles. if belt failed before 60 unless they recalled the car to change it at 40k then by law you can claim the expence from them i believe as its not performing to expected reasonable use stated as 60k miles when the car was sold new.
  11. the gti engine would be a pile of crap if it couldn't take 8000rpm as standard block. most NA engines from over 10 years ago should easily take 8000rpm without having to strengthen any internals. unless they are made by a poor manufacturer.
  12. your also have slightly better drag from having narrower tyres cutting through the air lol. but more measureable would be less friction as said above so would get better mpg and acceleration from this while in traction. also the tyre may weigh slightly less reducing upsprung kerb weight and rotational weight. helping with performance. but in the end i think standard size 205/45/15 is best as thats what the car is setup for. but aslong as dunlops are not used as they are crap. hard wearing, but crap because of that.
  13. i saw the original in the cinema. there was only 3 other people watching. 1 was my dad.
  14. gti i had got 106.8@wheels and corrected to 127.7@fly. a 100 corrected to 132? 25% is a big loss for fwd. 15% is about normal. my result gave me a 16-17% loss acording the the rolling road. transmission loss article
  15. tramlining is where the car follows a path wear the road surface is uneven levels and the car goes in a different direction form where your steering. quite unsettling. this happens mostly when you have wider than standard wheels/tyres on the car.

    cats!

8-10bhp from a 400 to a 200? you will be doing well to gain 4 bhp from a completely straight through bit of large diameter plain pipe.
  17. i believe its a fail according to the manual if your spoiler brake light doesnt work. it counts this lamp as one unit, what it means is as these are usually multiple red leds in the spoiler, its ok if some of them dont work but at least one led must light up then the lamp as a whole is counted as working..
  18. ah thats good then as everyone here might like to know that you can get them brand new for £16+vat each from auto part suppliers. such as brakeparts.co.uk. this is the quote they gave me anyway.
  19. are the g60 carriers used for the gti upgrade off the 92 onwards corrado g60?
  20. civic type R. no contest. thats if you dont fancy the lupo GTI.

    Rated Omp

omp only make an upper. made of steel. was thinking about one myself. does it fit ok without having to move any parts particularly the standard gti aribox? and how does it bolt down to the suspsension struts?
  22. you want bigger and wider wheels/tyres to give you better traction off the line in the wet . it has nothing to do with aquaplaning. but having this setup will make you much more likely to aquaplane when there is heavy standing water on the road and your going relativiely fast, over 45 or so mph anyway. 1st make sure you have the best compound and tread pattern for sports/wet performance tyres, then go wider if thats not good enough. also there is not much point in getting bigger diameter wheels unless you are forced to do so to get a wider rim for the tyres you need. you will always need to keep the same rolling radius anyway to keep your gearing standard and speedo aswell. so the reason your wheels are spinning off the line is because you have not very good rubber and or tread pattern or not enough width on the tarmac. i would recommend you ask your local tyre fitter to fit the widest tyre possible for your rim size, and with a high performance wet tyre, from a top brand. and i do recommend toyo t1r for the very wet. or Yokohama a539 which blows the toyo away in wet/greasy road handling and "off the line", but at the same time is letal in very wet as it aquaplanes almost instantly due to its poor wet tread pattern compared the toyo.
