  1. depends how hard you use the brakes really, i have green stuff and they turn my wheels black within 1 week or so.
  2. greenstuf are ok, not very fade resistent. quite cheap, but omp competition are the ones to get if you dont want any brake fade, or omp road and sport for gentle use.
  3. i wouldnt reccomend reddex or similar products, they only made the car run worse when i have used them. i think vpower is the best thing for putting in to be good to the fuel system. i use 50% v power and 50% sainsburys 97 octane. balances out at 98 for ideal gti fuel. and saves a bit of cash aswell.
  4. the tesco 99 ron i believe is a cheaper alternative to vpower, but as tesco 99 uses ethanol to get its increased octane it is greener but ethanol has a water absorbing property and is also i think not as good for mpg as normal petrol.
  5. leaded fuel was banned for general use in the 90's. v power will be good for any petrol engine. its a healthy mix of goodness.
  6. yeah somethings wrong with the engine or your right foot whenever you use v power!
  7. high octane fuel contains a fire retardant, so the fuel actually burns less well, less combustible. this is why its give better mpg i believe and it allows for ignition timing to be increased to make more power as it wont detonate so easily and cause internal engine problems. correct me if i'm wrong.
  8. the 131bhp engine, same as the 140 out of the mr2 and celica are very different to the 190 1.8 engine, you certainly couldnt upgrade it practically to the 190 unit. i would think the 190 unit is quite a bit more expensive to make perhaps to sell in the yaris at a market price, and maybe more likely they will sell and make more money on lower powered insurance friendly cars. vw have done the same thing with the fox. and also other brands like nissan and the micra, nissan is basically renault with different badge, they could have put the 2.0 clio engine in the micra but they never intend to. if toyta in uk are happy to sell the mr2 with only 140bhp i think they will keep the yaris at 131bhp. incidentally the japanese get all the good versions, the mr2 has the 190 unit as option over there. and TRD factory kits. vw/audi needs to get into f1 imo.
  9. remaps can give between 6-12bhp increase. should work a bit of magic on the torque aswell. i hope to get one done later in the year.
  10. nice to hear from a 1.6 owner. post some pictures up. 225/45/17 tyres!! have you got stuck on any hills and run out of power lol.
  11. well that really suprises me and i dont understand how it happens. i have 205/45/15 and lowered 30mm with no problems, so how can a 195/50 with no drop rub when there will be more clearance in both width and in height as tyre wall is not 30mm taller than 45 profile. unless its to do with standard suspension travel, in which case if the if the car is lowered it wont bounce so much and more clearance is generated. when the time comes i will give the 50's a try and learn the hard way if necessary.
  12. thats great news. ok for sure it will take 20 seconds to get to 60 and have tiny engines. but still could be used as a nice base and then get it custom tuned. hope they give it a manual gearbox. if there is any luck they might put in that 1.4 turbo non supergharged engine they made recently. miracles may happen.
  13. never heard of super2000 is that just like super1600 but with 2.0 engines and turbo charged? a bit like wrc? some nice polo super1600 pic on this link. super1600
  14. you dont like f1 cars? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  15. i dont think the profile is that high. an f1 car looks sporty and that has profiles about foot high. i think i would like it as it would give some extra give to compensate for the extra hardness of the uprated suspension i have.
  16. no no plans to make that size. 195/50 is about the same % difference from standard as the 195/45, but going bigger instead of smaller. a tiny % really. here is the not so new R888 but is an even better tyre. border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> "Our new track day tyre is the road legal Proxes R888. Design by our motorsport team using high tech computer systems has resulted in an outstanding compound that delivers perfect results in the dry and wet. The medium soft compound has performed significantly better than soft compound competitor tyres." again though only 195/50/15 for lupo gti fitment.
  17. ok it was mentioned awhile back about possible new toyo performance tyres coming out, and now they are present on the toyo website. "The optimised shoulder design and mediate block distribution are allied to a stable centre rib for excellent cornering and directional stability in dry conditions. The unique 'W' shape tread pattern with diagonal grooves effectively disperses water for benign wet-weather handling. The advanced compound of the Proxes 4 combines low road noise with extremely high levels of grip and traction " border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> smallest size is a 15" as a 195/50/15 so would be suitable for a lupo gti. worth a consideration.
  18. you just made me realise mine has just stopped doing it aswell. only recently. i will update if i am wrong.
  19. this has been one of my all time fav internet videos. just like the real star wars i learnt the lines. MR Lazansky!!!
  20. i remember reading about one roadtest where in the wet the uniroyal rainsport came below the toyo in terms of traction. but like you i have had heard good reports also.
  21. toyo R888 in 195/50/15 these are like slicks but very sticky and road legal, they even say they are ok to drive in the wet.
  22. can you tell me what the 1st signs/symptoms were of the tensioers failing. as a handy guide to those who may experience it?
  23. best way is to get a pipercross panelfilter then everything looks standard, i doubt you would loose any power.
  24. choose wisely. the only thing i would be happy getting is a mortgage. prices go up so your normally making money ultimately by borrowing it. very different to cars. unless you buy a lupo gti which i'm praying is the next collectable classic. maybe its too soon for that..
  25. will check his out. i have been told that 170bhp road version kit costs upto £5k from advanced autosport. i will get some cams from them for £300. £300 for ecu work. that leaves £400 for fitting including new cambelt/tensioner parts and fitting which i will get done at the same time. i hope to spend under £1k for this. but will probably go over.
