  1. QUOTE(Adam)on another note (sorry to hijack the thread) but has the lupo gti ever been on top gear before? It was on the old Top Gear. VBH raved about it. I seem to recall that she thought it was the only real VW GTi in production. Dave
  2. QUOTE(PaulTither) I've asked at my local dealership repetativly but they swear they no nothing!Finally, a VW dealership that's honest style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  3. We had a creak on our 1.0 from about 4k miles. It happened when the body rolled from one side to trhe other e.g. coming off a roundabout. Vindis in Bedford changed quite a bit of the rear suspension and the problem disappeared. It came back again at about 25k but then went away on its own. No rear spoiler so can't blame that! Also have a knocking from the rear that I thought was the tray on top of the spare wheel. Took that out but the noise is still there. Might be the tailgate but it seems very secure. Haven't got any other ideas at the moment. Dave
  4. When and Who did the work? Remember mine also included an MOT but still that's a big difference if it was done by a main dealer
  5. According to our manual the Lupo tank is 34 litres not 30. Also tried Optimax for a few tankfuls in our 1.0. It made no noticeable differance except to the cost of filling up! I doubt that the 1.0 ECU is capable of making the most of 98RON fuel. The 1.4Sport and GTI are supposed to run on 98 but can run on 95 with a loss in performance so you should feel a difference with Optimax. Dave
  6. Well, 2 disks, 2 sets of pads, an MOT and cleaned the rear brakes (they were making a horrible sound) - £310 at Vindis in Bedford They did price match the best quote I had from non VW so I suppose I shouldn't complain.
  7. Well that doesn't apply here. As I said, we got almost 50k on our Bora without needing any brake work. Even then we only needed rear pads. The disks and front pads had loads of life left. I guess the Lupo brakes aren't quite as sturdy as the Bora's. They're definitely no where near as powerful. Dave
  8. Hi folks Just had our 1.0 MOT'd for the first time today and it's failed on the front brakes as the disks are warped. I was feeling a slight pulsing when braking from `60-70` but nothing really bad. The car's done just under 34k and we know that we're not heavy on brakes as we did almost 50k in our Bora without needing any brake work. Both cars got the same type of use. Just wondering if the Lupo brake parts are made from chcocolate or if this is unusual Cheers Dave
  9. It's the engine management system warning light. It's on page 13 of my "Controls & Equipment" manual
  10. Have you considered a PDA? I bought a HP IPAQ 2210, 256MB SD memory card and a compact flash GPS module www.expansys.co.uk. I use TomTom software with CheckPOInt for speed camera warnings. To mount it I use RAM mounts that are available from www.gpsw.co.uk The whole lot came to less than £500. It's also transferable from car to car or in my case bike. Just a thought.
  11. Had this on our 1.0E and VW changed quite a few bits of the suspension under warranty. Unfortunately I don't seem to have a list of what was replaced. That was a year or more ago and the problem has returned. Generally get it coming off a roundabout when body roll transitions from one angle to the other. Doesn't sound nice at all. I'll be taking mine back soon to get it fixed - again. Dave
