  1. got the gearbox back and had it fitted - smooth as a baby bum! seems that they may have done the job properly this time. Im well out of pocket too, after paying a garage to take out the box, paying whitepost to rebuild it and then paying the garage to put it back, but im glad its all sound. As said before, i was pretty miffed when id found the car id bought needed a few bits done to it that have added up to quite a few quid, but im now glad i can sell the car in a state id be happy with - and not have a guilty consience after selling it!
  2. to be honest, iv gone beyond the point of caring now, its just getting me down thinking about it. Iv had the car on the road for about a week since i got it, and its been sitting in the vw specialist garage since, and i can imagine im gonna have a whopping bill from them to now. Lupo ownership hasnt been so cheap as i thought it was going to be! One good thing will come from it - who ever buys it next is going to get a perfect car!
  3. just thought id give you a quick update, Whitepost Garage in Gloucestershire have split the gearbox and found that the bearings were ****ed - he said they were rusty - when i reminded him that they had rebuilt it with ALL new bearings and they had sealed the box and fitted it back to the car, he told me - someone must have put water in the gearbox oil filler hole. So just a warning to anyone planning on getting there gearbox rebuilt - DONT USE WHITEPOST - there warranty means nothing, they did all the work, now 2k miles later its faulty and they wont fix it under warranty. Looks like im going to be out of pocket again. After a few hundred miles of driving it, iv had enough, and its going up for sale as soon as i get it back.
  4. not really much help to this topic (i have the same problem as you by the way), but speaking to a VW Mechanic (not technitian!) the other day he said that the problem lies with a rod (think it was selector shaft) not having a gator on it, allowing bits of sh*te on the rod to get into the box, and then get into the bearings. Im still awaiting my gearbox back after rebuild no.2, still awaiting to find out whether he's going to charge me for it or not - but after 2k miles since he last rebiult it, id say it would be a pretty poor show if not. I can see the potential with these cars, but this problem has really made me weary about them. I hope you can get through to these people - it should be dealt with by VW as its so plain to see its a design problem.
  5. door installs look smart, tweeters look like they are in a bad place though! You've given me an idea about what to put in the passenger side cubby hole thing, it looks bare normally!
  6. how about i give you my sport rims + cash your way! they all have good tyres on them too
  7. if you sell your vw rims hybrid, im 1st in line!
  8. thats looking real good, loving the polished lipped rims
  9. its got quite a lot of tar build up near the arches and alot on the boot, and a few scuffs, so having it clayed then machine polished, then having a carpet company steam clean the seats and carpet and treat it with some protective stuff! Still unsure what to do with the interior as the seats make me feel sick, might take the rear seats out and just put some mk4 recaro's in the front. Also getting an induction kit as it sounds horrible without one! Just got some chrome door handle covers too - but not sure if i like them?
  10. Bought this a few weeks back, nice little car and suprisingly tons of room inside?! its like mary poppins handbag inside! The gearbox had started to whine and then became very hard to get out of gear and started popping out of gear. Got it up onto the ramp, to take the gearbox out, and a few other bits needed doing whilst it was up there! So far i've had/done: Gearbox Rebuilt New Clutch Genuine VW Centre Section Exhaust brackets strengthened Coilovers New Rear Discs & Pads Black Badge's Front & Back New Stereo Bump Strips Removed border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> Check Out The CAMBER!!!!! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> also got some GTi Bathursts on the way, and having the car detailed. Lights are also in the oven currently, being smoked!!! can i do the indicators the same way as iv done the headlights??
  11. typed in my details! got breakdown cover in that too!
  12. im with chaucer, 19 paying £500 a year for my sport with 1 years NCB.
  13. while 165 tyres would work and look cool, there not something id want to run everyday on 8's (even though they'd probably be fine)
  14. think thats what mine are! they are up for grabs anyone who wants them.
  15. yeh lowered 30mm apparantly, its in the garage now though having coilovers, new pads, new discs, front lights smoked, and interior removed! Anyone know if i can buy bathursts new from VW? if so anyone know a part no.?? thanks
  16. lol! im having serious doubts now about getting "nice" rims, im in need of a new laptop for uni, so think im gonna get some sensible wheels now!!!!!!! Will bathursts fit on my sport????? pictures PLEASE if anyone has any, searched for about an hour tonight and can only find pics on jake-vws lupo, are there any others?
  17. even though et25 are going to make them sit 10mm closer into the arch than yours? i also saw someone on here think it was duplosport or someone with a name like that, slammed on modern lines, with no archwork?
  18. been looking at wheels lately, it definately is the hardest job of car styling! its down to either brock b5's (which i know will go on fine) or Schmidt Modern Lines. Iv seen a bloke on here run them, 15x8 et20 with 165x45x15!!! way too much of a stretch for my liking - could i go et25 and run 175/50 or 185/45 instead? just thinking et 25 will make the sit in the arches a little more? Any help with this would be great as i want to get them ordered asap. thanks
  19. erm im 200 miles away from them so cant really fault them for that! Just hope it gets done right so i can focus on the more important things - like making it look less like my grandma's car!
  20. might be getting somewhere now, just rang them, and they have said they will have a look at it. So got to get it booked into a garage to have the box off, package it up and send it to them, and they said it will be a few weeks, so going to be without a car! hopefully they can do the job properly this time.
  21. the bloke who deals with that side of things wasnt there again, will try again tommorow.
  22. but that means i have to clean them all the time to make sure the laquer doesnt peel! and im off to uni in spetember - last thing i will be wanting to think about is "sh*t i need to clean my wheels!"
  23. think il be going for some 7 & 8 x14" brock b5's, justr unsure wether to get the silver ones, or silver with polished lip.
