  1. If body roll is scary then get an arb or learn to drive.
  2. IMO your mad to get an exhaust system got the tdi. The modern Diesel engines sound ok. Not great but ok nowadays. Our old school 3 pots will sound like a tractor with an exhaust. Each to their own though.
  3. Standard or pattern part. What does best mean?
  4. Why do you want rid of the fleece ones? They cut down road noise.
  5. I did not. Gave it to the mechanic. I don't have the time or space. I don't have a driveway anymore :-(. I can't drive motorway without it now. I've had it on for 20k miles now probably.
  6. I have cruise control. My winter wheels are light weight compomotives. I may replace my current set. Why would I want to get rid of electric windows? It's hot enough in the Arosa without AC lol. Yes will do cheers.
  7. My brother fitted a new 109 relay. Such a pain!! Also fitted a 99 programmable wiper relay which is nice. Got my DLS amp wired in, sounding lovely. So any ideas on what next? Has to be cheap and not ruin the car aka nothing what most members do. No slamming.
  8. There are places you can obtain it much cheaper than £10. Like eBay or other places who don't really have any right to sell it for profit.
  9. As above. Process of elimination.
  10. Also is it for the longer gears. I had a 1.4 sport the gearbox blew up. It was rebuilt with the 1.4 non sport gearbox. I lost the super close ratios but it wasn't screaming on the motorway.
  11. If only you had said it one more time I would have believed you.
  12. Yes that's true. The gti was a really cracker. The 1.1 was so horrible if was funny though.
  13. 100% agree! But saying that a 106 can go around corners very very well. I drove my 106 to england. It should have been a 6 hour drive but took way longer due to being overtaken going up hills by lorries. It was a 1.5d running veg oil and it cost us nothing to get down there but still. My tdi with the longer 5th way way nicer.
  14. It's fading off now :-(. Next time I'll clear coat it. I've left a video from on how to do the ventectomy.
  15. Your worse than that guy looking for a 1k 300bhp lupo
  16. well thats what decats are lol.
  17. Skezza what does your sdi sit at 70?
  18. One of the best mods I did to my tdi. I don't speed but I sit at a gps indicated 70mph. Going to work is proper hilly so I only got about 51-52mpg. Since I changed it if got 58mpg. That's 65miles motorway and 40 miles country road and again I don't speed but I keep my speed up to 60. I think if I did all motorway of I'd be hitting 62mpg easily. Also the car is silent at that speed. Well except road noise. I changed the engine mounts. What a difference! No more rocking or bucking from the engine. Car is smoother and transfers the power to the road. From vw it was £260+ in just parts. I got them for just over £100 from German eBay. So that's a result. My Decat has just arrived so I will be fitting that soon. A review of if decatting is worth it will be done once fitted. Main reasons are the car should be more powerful with it fitted as there is less back pressure on turbo so it's more free flowing. Same reason mean the turbo will be less stressed. Removing a part which could fail (cat). I've decatted many diesels with excellent results the only thing is that they smell worse without the cats. Also fuel effciency should rise slightly too.
  19. I'm not denying diesels can be fast but how nice do you think a drag diesel drives on the road. Again it pushes all the power up top as a drag diesel is used full throttle near red line in all gears. People don't drive like that on the road. You would be having to run crazy power to need new pistons. Your rods would probably bend before you needed pistons. But anyways that why the 1.4 isn't worth it. A 1.9tdi with a moderate turbo makes more power but also has a much broader powerband. So let's say both engines for arguments are running 170bhp and 200nm torque just for easyness. The 1.4 makes 170 at 4.5rpm but gets 80% of it's power at 3.5krpm and peak torque is reached at 4krpm but again only starting about 3-3.5krpm. The 1.9tdi with a moderate turbo will make the same power but at 4.5krpm but 80% being made a 2krpm. Torque peaks at say 4k but 80% from 2.5k. So you see what I mean more useable power. That's just an example. It's the same with say a supra. Most of the 1000bhp supras are dyno queens. Their numbers are stunning but on the road it's nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, here we go, damn!!, chnage gear. Where as in something with 600-800bhp with a smaller turbo the turbo spools much quicker giving a broader powerband.
  20. Yes but it's near enough 1.5k. Way to much money. I already have a long 5th so it sits at 2krpm at 70mph.
  21. Also diesels are different to petrols. Hot cams would just move the power band even further up and why would you change the compression ratio? It's not like a spark goes off it has to be silly high for a diesel.
