  1. Blimey, sounds like you had a bad time of it !!! I had the snip last month, it wasn't pleasant but only took about 20 mins in total. Everything crossed for the all clear now !
  2. The BBS 2 piece split rim on the Polo Gti (6Jx15) weigh's 8.5kg A Rondell 0058 one piece (7J x 15) also weigh's 8.5 kg. Although not light weight, when changing my wheels, I made sure I wasn't increasing the unsprung weight.
  3. Yep a VRS is just within your budget and with free diesel, would be a good option to go for. Although very nippy to begin with, I would suggest the following mods: £600 suspension £200 312mm brake conversion £500 remap The only thing that I don' tlike and bothers me about the VRS is the seat upholstery.
  4. I wet shave. I've only ever tried an electric razor once and my face felt so, so sore afterwards for days, I vouched never again. Mind you, it wasn't an expensive one, but I don't want to spend £60+ on a good one and find out I don't like it. I have tried various fixed blade "new" razors from various manufacturers, but the blades are so expensive. I have been buying and using the same disposable razors for about 5 years now. They are the Gillete blue 2 plus slalom disposables. I use them with Gillete sensitive shave gel. I find nothing gets closer and my soothes my skin as much. I have tried king of shaves products but didn't rate them. My skin is too sensitive.
  5. The only ones above that have damping adjustment are the Koni's, therefore purely for that I would go for them. At around £560 delivered, they also seem v. good value.
  6. I'd add a shorter aerial to that list as well. That is a very good car purchase, I am sure you are very pleased. How do you find the Bilstein suspension, is it harsh in any situations/road surfaces. I would appreciate your comments as I plan to purchase the same. EDIT: to say thanks for the comments below, made to my question above !
  7. I've seen that too ! Big up blingin' wheels on it too style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
  8. Hi Richard, long time no speak. Hope all is well with both Golf's. Sorry to hear about the Lupo gearbox woes, assuming it is the same issue as with the Polo gti box, it will be the bearings that need replacing. It is best to have the box from the car refurbished, rather than having it replaced with a new/reconditioned one. I would search on yell.com for 'Gear Box Manufacturers & Repairs' as VAG specialists may well outsource the work anyway.
  9. How do you define best handling? It is too subjective a question, as I doubt many people have experienced more than one suspension set-up on their GTi's. I thought you favoured the Bilstein B12 kit:
  10. Chris, A9XSJ http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showuser=1362 has the koni spot kit on his Lupo. Pics of his car are here: http://lupogti.fotopic.net/c969592.html or enter koni or A9XSJ in the relevant search boxes.
  11. I had a feeling they may have been manufactured by Bilstein. I am sure they are good quality anyhow. Beach have you got the -30 comfort kit or the -50/30 sport kit? Are you fitting it soon, I would love to hear your thoughts on the handling/comfort. The cheapest price I have seen for these is here: http://www.orange-tuning.com/shop/suspensi...b9bebf77dfa432f Tigz - I am also considering this kit for my 6n2 (see prices on the above website c. £260 for the polo)
  12. These are the H&R camber bolts: http://www.orange-tuning.com/shop/hr-cambe...458ce4488ebb941
  13. Did you get these from e-bay at that price? I have the caliper carriers and will be looking for discs shortly.

    H&R Cup Kit

yes, also applicable to the TDI. The cup 'sport' kit is a 60mm front and 40mm rear drop for the non gti: http://www.orange-tuning.com/shop/hr-vw-lu...833de2913b45c91 there are pics of this kit fitted to a gti in the following link (notice the kit coding on the springs) http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18476 The cup 'comfort kit is a 30mm drop all round: http://www.orange-tuning.com/shop/hr-vw-lu...833de2913b45c91
  15. without a doubt !!! My Passat Estate TDI 130 is chipped, and MPG on chipped diesels doesn't really change much at all. Obviously my passat is a fair bit heavier than a golf/bora/A4, but still easily returns 45mpg. A 250bhp 1.8T will return considerably less, 35mpg if you are lucky. Chipped diesels are no slouch's. If you havent driven one, you may well be surprised just how quick they can be. Don't just consider them for the economy value, they can see off a lot of other cars due to the huge torque, especially if you got something light(er) such as the fabia vrs. I would take with a pinch of salt claims of 200bhp+ on a diesel just from a chip, even if it is a TDI 150. To get that kind of figure and above, you are looking at turbo upgrades, or a good shot of nitrous. 190bhp is about the max from a remap alone, although this is more than plenty IMO. You are also unlikely to get 250bhp from a 1.8T, unless you consider a lot of bolt on extras. Depending on the turbo and whether it is DBW or non-DBW, a chip would see around 210-230bhp on its own.
