    Oil Catch Tank

Hello all, Read on here about the benefit of purchasing an oil catch tank. I was wondering if this is the correct piece of equipment and up for te job? Oil Catch Tank on Ebay Thanks
  7. 6x9's are the devils work. Just a good set of components and a sub is all you need. 6x9's ruin the sound stage. Boy'dup you obviously have not listened to many systems of fine tuned your own. I started the whole 6x9 in stealth shelf and was recommended to change to just a good set of comps anped and it made a HUGE difference. To put it simply when you listen to live music the sound source is in front of you, so why ruin the staging putting muddy mid bass behind you in shelf? Bass and sub bass is not particularly directional so putting it in the boot is fine. I would recommend: 1 x good componenets 1 x 10 shallow mount sub and either 1 x 3 channel amp or 1 x mono block to drive sub 1 x 2 channel to drive components Although i am probably not meant to recommend other forums get yourself over to talkaudio.co.uk
  8. Afternoon all, After spending a good 2 weeks reading reviews and taking advice i decided to purchase mintex extreme pads. Only to find they have been discontinued. So back to the drawing board when it comes to brake pads. What does everyone recommend instead? Thanks, D
  9. Afternoon all, Where oh where can i find these, spent nearly an hour online. Can i find anywhere that does them? NO! Are they the same as any other car takes? Can someone point me in the direction of a website. Thanks, D
  10. Hello all, What size speakers do the doors take and what are the mounting depths? Thanks, D
  11. Morning all, Just done a search for black diamond discs online, but finding it hard to find the GTI versions. Where is the cheapest place to get hold of these? Would you recommend them as a standard brake upgrade or the G60 more preferable? Opinions and debate welcome, Thanks

  13. As i work in a mobile phone shop i should be able to answer this for you. If you choose to go direct and purchase from the network operator they will not take the direct debit from an account with a different name to that on the bill especially if the address does not match. 3rd party retailers like P4U and Carphone Warehouse are able to do it, however this was a few years ago when i worked their briefly. It is now more difficult to do this with the introduction as chip and pin as proofs, you would probably need to go down the manual proofs root which would be bankstatement (within the last 3 months)/drivers license and a debit/credit card. What i will say is that over the last few years mobile networks have increased they credit score required to be able to take a contract, with not doing chip and pin your automatically 5 - 10% (depending on operator) less likely to pass, having a different payment name/address to that it is being registered in is much more likely to be considered fraudulent and less likely to pass. One option is to get somone else to take and and set up a standing order into their account for 3 months (This is dependant on operator so check before purchasing). Then you can do a change of ownership, which requires a crdit check on your profile, so make sure you on electrol role and your credit profile is up to date with experian and equifax. What i do highly recommend is go direct to the network stores to get correct information, even though 3rd party retailers offer good deals (cash/cheque back) they will often not honour it if you miss one payment or insturctions to get money back, CPW reapir service takes 2 weeks, whereas 3 mobile for example takes 24 hours. If you need anymore information just ask.
  14. Thats frustrating having a GTI the battery is in the boot. Any recomendations on how to run the wires? Last questions: Is there any exposed metal behind the HU to ground the headunit?
  15. Why not sign her up to those singles/or gay chat text services that cost £9 a week. Or those ringtone king, as many as possible. Would soon cost her 1k a month on phone bills if she is on contract! Its also hard to stop these services as the old STOP method does not work. Everytime you see an advert go to their website and enter her phone number. The other way it will work is it will kill her credit on pay as you go, or make her hit her credit limit on contract in 1 day so she cannot use her phone (mobile company will block it) Second suggestion, get your brother a new number and set his old number on divert to her home phone. So when she rings will just piss off her family, especially if its late at night! OR divert it back to her number so she can leave herself some answer phone messages. Or divert it to her dads mobile if you know it, will cause extreme embarrasment and gether confused. Thrid suggestion, same as above but divert it to some mental NHS hospital/rehab clini/self help service! What you think to those?
  16. Evening all, Just purchased a Alpine CDA-9812RB. I just went to try and put it in and run into a few problems. Where is the ground behind the dash to screw the headunit into? On the headunit the battery lead says to directly connect it to the battery or fuse block. Do i have to do this? The ignition lead on the Lupo is not followed through onto the connection of the alpine, therefore the headunit is always on. Any ideas? Thanks, Darryl
  17. Hello there, link does not work, would like to have a look. Thanks
  18. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo of a swan, but a tribalesque one for memory of my grandma. She is the greatest, most inspirational, loving and influential person in my life. I don't want her memory to fade and am getting a tattoo as a constant reminder to my roots, family and all that has made me the individual i am today. This maybe a year or two away, depends on the time it takes to design, this will have to be right. I thought i would just post my intention and reasons having read some of the discussion on here. I have always been against the fashion tattoo but those with individual meanings, no matter the tatto, shape or size. It is what it means to the person having it done that is important and that only they need know the meaning.
  19. Evening all, Am i being stupid but where are the rear speakers in my O1 plate GTI? Thanks
  20. Here was my first car. Sorely missed but wiring and engine were finally giving up. I wish i still had it, alot of time, money and effort went into the car. Now onto my first Lupo GTI - No modifications at the moment due to insurance restrictions!

  23. Hi all, Well its insurance renewal time for the GTI, i am happy to say that i have found a quote £260 pound cheaper than my current company renewal quote. Direct Line - £506.14 However they do not support any modifications and will not insure my sound system. Therefore i cannot go with them the nearest to them was £700 odd but when you add the BMC alone it goes up over £100. Therefore do i go with direct line and not put on the BMC and manifold, or pay an arm or a leg to get them insured. Who is everyone else here with?? I am 22, 3 years no claims, 1 accident in Jan 2005 (so not within 3 but 5 years). I am debating selling up as i can get insurance on a type R civic for £118 more, and have funds with the sale of the lupo to buy one. So confused. HELP Thanks, Darryl
  24. Hello All, I am having problems with the left side of my cars sound. It sometimes works but then i loose al sound on the left side of my GTI. I have inspected the headunit and all seems fine and had a brief look at the obvious wiring and no problems. Is this a common problem or has anyone else had this before? Right onto the questions. What are the sizes of the GTI speakers front and back. Standard speaker power handling etc? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the speakers so i can replace all the speaker wiring? Thanks in advance, Darryl
