  1. Sorry to thread hi-jack but I also have a mk2 1.4 tdi arosa. Does anybody know a good after market air filter, panel or otherwise that will actually improve the engine airflow etc. I've seen a BMC panel filter for about £45, but i don't know if it is any good? Thanks.
  2. Saw you pulling onto the roundabout as I was coming off. Looked pretty nice, deff lowered on some after market alloys. Anyone on here?
  3. I saw this one too, looks pretty tidy. Hopefully it will serve you well
  4. The point of the discussion is not to get a price, but to offer a *GUIDE* in respect of what is a reasonable price to pay for insurance and which companies offer a good service? Obviously everyones quote will be different but equally certain insurers do target specific demographics in respect of new business sales, for example; Saga/Acromas who only target over 50's or diamond who only target female drivers. In the relatively few productive replies to this thread, we have already determined a majority of members (albeit 2 out of 4) who insure through adrian flux. This does not mean that they will be the best for everyone, but it means bikemad04 has a prospective company to call and get a quote from. If the 2 posts said "i'm with adrian flux, they're cheap but crap service and stole my money" he would know not to bother so i still think the thread is perfectly justified and telling someone to 'phone around' isnt very helpful. There are a lot of insurance companies/brokers/intermediaries in the UK, you dont want to have to phone every single one, if you can at least rule out half, it will save you some time and hassle. As per my reply to scotty really, but yes i agree that people asking how much their insurance will be is pointless and yes an appropriate reply would be 'get a quote' but clearly that is not the intention of this thread and was at no point asked.
  5. And this is a silly comment imo. You phone your broker or underwriter for a quote. You dont phone them to ask who offers competitive rates or is a good company/service provider which is the point of this discussion.
  6. I'm 23 with 3yrs ncd and I pay about £400 fully comp through adrian flux, thats on an arosa tdi though. To be honest I thought that was a bit dear because I only pay £500 for fully comp cover on my 07 plate Jetta 2.0 TDI Sport, inc hire car cover etc and thats with direct line. But I couldnt insure the arosa any cheaper at the time? Weird.
  7. i definitely wouldnt want lexus lights.. no offence but i think they look chav on any car these days
  8. Having owned, driven, tuned and generally poured my soul into a VTS i know it well, and truth is that even a fairly stock vts with basic breathing mods will pretty much always be able to pull away and stay away from a similarly stock lupo gti or an st IMO. That said i've only driven a lupo gti once and i didnt drive it very hard and on the occasions that i have driven an st the one thing i did like was that it had long legs at high speeds so that would have the best chance of pulling in a vts, imo. As has already been said, it largely depends what you want, if it's speed.. just look elsewhere, there are much faster cars for similar or less money.. hell for 5k you could get an old shaped 225bhp audi tt on an early X/Y plate, maybe with 100k on the clock but the bam engines are fairly solid if they're maintained well. If you want to race vts's, why not buy a vts and tune it.. you'll get it cheap enough that you could throw 3k at it and it still be cheaper than a good condition lupo gti. The lupo's definately carry a premium and it's because mainly just that they're rare and they're a vw gti and all vw gti badged cars carry a premium (except maybe mk4 golf because they're **** and common). Someone else suggested a clio 182 which i've also owned and it is a good shout but be prepared to accept that it's a renault and build quality and reliability isnt great, mine spent more time on axle stands than on it's wheels although it was more reliable than my vts. Anyway.. I hope all this helps you make a decision.
  9. lol that really does put it into perspective tbh. lower ftw.
  10. Well i'll have a think about it, i'm not in any rush and I dont want to make it look crap.. might have to play with photoshop and see if I can get a feel for it. Thank you Not as nice as yours though.. yet.. but i'll keep working at it
  11. I overtook you on the long ashton bypass and then you followed me all the way to weston. Lost you just after the motorway roundabout though. Anyone on here?
  12. looks nice mate.. nearly as nice as mine i know what you mean about the tdi badge, i wasnt sure about getting rid of mine but it does look so much better smooth imo. plus if people thinks it's "just another 1.0" they wont be expecting the tdi power when you blast past them
  13. Yeah i'm not sure what to do with the side repeaters yet, i was looking at getting some dark smoked ones but i'm not sure so i'll wait and see for now. Cheers for the tip about the c5 aerial, i'll look into that. As for the rear lights, i'm not sure you know.. i dont love the standard mk2 ones, but you're right that the mk1 might look silly. What i really want is some clear crystal or smoked ones, but cant find any. All i've found are chavtastic lexus ones that would look gash! But i'll have a think about it..
  14. Ah now that's true, I had forgotten about that.. consider it added to the list Were you surprised by how nippy it is? I was.. and I had a stripped out saxo vts before this so I expected it to feel pretty slow. The only thing is it wallows a bit around the corners on the standard suspension.. but hopefully that will be sorted soon enough. Oh, another thing I forgot to add, an awesome rear arb kit!
  15. Yeah thanks, I agree it definitely looks cleaner and smoother. I really like the colour too and i'm very pleased with the car so far.
  16. Ok well I recently posted in the new members section and as I said there, I have plans for the car, though it's not going to be an overnight transformation and it is my daily so it will always have to remain somewhat practical. I'll start by posting some pics of how it looked (pretty much) when I bought it, although it's been cleaned a few times since I very first got it, it's still completely stock here: All very nice and all, but I decided this weekend to start working on it, so I started with the cheapest things.. 1) de-wiper the rear window 2) remove the lettering/badges on the back 3) aero-wiper blades on the front 4) fit a new headunit (as the standard one was broken anyway) 5) fit a stubby aerial Few pics: For some reason I forgot to take photos of the headunit or front wiper blades, so further pics to follow when it's next daylight Also, regarding the aerial, I will be buying a black one asap, it's just I had that one laying around in my shed so I figured it'll do for now but i dont really like silver aerials, can look a bit chav if you're not careful. So, future plans are: - coilovers - either new alloys or at least refurb the standard ones to a diff colour - lupo/arosa mk1 rear lights - may have a go at fitting cruise control - black stubby aerial - possibly new seats/door cards (black ideally) - fit black interior plastic trim/roof lining - get bodywork looking pristine (couple of odd annoying stone chips and blemishes) - re-map ecu - awesome rear arb kit And that's about all i've thought of for now. Only other thing I would say is that i've been having a good look at ebay over the last couple of days and I may have some new wheels soon as i've seen some I like.. but that's all i'll say for now. All comments and advice welcome Rich.
  17. Ok i've tried searching the forum and i'm just getting confused. Most of the info relates to putting arosa lights on a lupo. Do mk1 arosa lights go straight onto the mk2? or does it need re-wiring? Can lupo lights be put onto a mk2 arosa if so, whats the wiring required. Hope this makes sense, just want to get rid of those mk2 rear lights
  18. Hi all, my names Rich and i've owned my arosa tdi since about november but havent got round to doing much with it since then. But now that the fine weather is on it's way, I thought i'd say hi and get to work on it. It used to belong to someone on the forum.. (northwind.. I think?) they sold it in august last year, and then I bought it from the person he sold it to just a few months later. It's in good condition, just a few small faults (door straps etc) but cant complain. Completely standard so far as i can see. Apart from fixing the few niggly faults my only plans at the moment are to fit some coilovers and refurb the alloys.. possibly in an anthracite or similar gun metal grey colour. Few pics for you taken today after a quick wash and vacuum. Needs a good polish and carpets could do with a shampoo but no time today. Comments welcome. Rich.
