well mine had sticky stuff in the exhaust but it wasnt really gooey or anything just like normal soot but excessive ammounts and it was slightly tacky when u rubbed it between your fingers. i also didnt have any performance issues but it did get to the stage where i had to fill up with oil every time i filled up with fuel! all in all for a brand new bottom end from vw, have my head refurbed, new cambelt, service etc, labour and vat it came to just shy of £1600.

yeah it has lol! i was well unlucky i think though coz mine was warped pistons and cylinders. a new bottom end and refurbed top end and its all fixed now

is your oil level going down? if it is droppin quite fast then its prob oil but if its not it will just be dirt. the black spots i had on mine were all small and a kind of dry texture but unlike dirt if u spayed it with water it stayed where it is, u had to rub them off. also wipe the bottom of the inside of your tail pipe, mine was really thick with soot but it was slightly sticky, hope this helps

mines defo not the screen seal the leak is way too high for that! well i pulled the headlining back and i think the drainage pipes are blocked so gonna try that

There are a lot of rules, the most relevant for you (I'd guess, as you don't say what you're planning to do) are that it needs to be mounted vertically, at the front of the car (i.e. the front, not behind the windscreen). It needs to be constructed properly - if you get it made properly that shouldn't be an issue. dont u mean horziontaly?

depends where u get the engine from, i had a new bottom end from vw and my head reconditioned, all fitted together properly and it cost me just shy of £1600!

if u paid using paypal you can file a dispute as the item was 'significantly not as described' and hopefully get your money back!
