Hello i am now the new owner of a Lupo 1.4s

i have had a few VW's in the past including a mk4 golf 20vT

and WOW what a car the lupo's are so cheap to run and very nippy!

i purchased her on saturday (will upload pics later)

on a T reg 73k on the clock good solid car good service history

and a bargin at £550!

slight problem the gear box makes a noise in neutral.

prev owner thinks its the thrust bearing - the clutch was replaced 130 miles ago

however it was just written in the service book no receipt to back this up.

car drives perfectly though so will have the gear box off on the weekend to have a look!

Bearings can be replaced on the layshaft, you hear the noise when the shaft is running "free".

Engage a gear and that is no longer the case.

In theory it is a fairly simple job, do a bit of a search and see what you can find, YouTube probably has some good guides. Worth getting an expert opinion first too before you go too far!
