rickb
HI Lupo 2003 1.4s petrol. Died at traffic lights. RAC towed me home. Recharged battery now starts and stops immediately which everywhere says is immobiliser. Have two keys both same. Tried many tricks eg touching + and - terminal, leaving key in for 10 minutes etc. Can anyone tell me best way to fix and also where the immobiliser is located and anyone got a vag com to read error codes near bagshot surrey Thanks Rick

iSamKing
sounds like it could be a crank sensor issue, is the EML light on??? have you had it check for fault codes???

Bigplum
The immo box is located to the left of the fuse box, black box about the size of a fag packet, follow the thinner black lead from the steering lock, nowt you can do it though. You may just have a problem with the key reading coil , that's a easy swap , just clips on steering lock. The fault may come up on vagcom , but its more likely to have lost the memory if its been jump stated and spiked/flashedYou have a few choices , get it to main dealer and get it recoded.Find your local autolocksmith, they can recode for it for around £70Buy a complete lockset that includes immo box , ecu, key and maybe instrument cluster, you won't need the key just the RFID chip from inside the key ,swap it all over and off you go . You need all the other parts as they are all linked Edited January 10, 2014 by Bigplum
rickb
Hi the saga goes on. Put new used throttle body in and car and it started but will only idle. Had vcds from local member (THANKS VERY VERY MUCH !!) errors 17989 and 17950 now (error 17950 only before replacing throttle body) but could not do a realignment as the errors always there even after clearing them. So suspect wiring or fuses etc. Just tested all the fuses above parcel shelf with multimeter all ok BUT noticed one of the "spare" fuse slots had both electrical connectors in place where the other spare slots either have only one and most none. So wondering if a fuse has fallen out? The slot is no 16 "central electrics". Everything seems to work on car so unlikely but cannot find out if there should be a fuse or not in slot 16.Its a Lupo 1.4 s petrol 2003 BBY engine Cheers Rick
