robclowes
Any advice on blanking an egr valve, pros cons?
Dblock
Do it. Very very small cons. Many many pros.
Defcon5
As above. When you start taking it off and see the huge amount of gunk you will wonder why it was ever put there
r0ssi_tdi
What are the pro's and cons then? How do you go about blanking it? Does it actually do anything ?
Defcon5
It allows som exhaust gases to return to the intake to reduce the amount of oxygen in the mixture, this reduces temperature and reduces emissions at the expense of economy.Plus the fact it covers everything in soot! You literally take it off and bolt a plate over the hole and replace it. I'm pretty sure this will put a fault light on though so they may be a 'proper' way or you could just map it out (considering you have a TDI this is a very good idea anyway)
r0ssi_tdi
Yeah im going to be getting my car remapped in the new year.I bought my TDI for economy. If it will help with economy then im all ears, if its performance gains im not really interested tbh.
Dblock
Most things on the tdi are both tbh. Remap will make it much quicker.

Dblock
Do you have the blanking plate? I just cut the vacuum hose to it and that seemed to work until I get the allard kit.
r0ssi_tdi
Im taking my Arosa to Stealth Racing as i hear on the Audi A2 forums that they are pretty good at mapping the 1.4TDI engine. Im going to go through this with them and see what they think or can do.Sounds interesting though!
robclowes
could do with a how to on this, anyone>
Richie7Rich
It's fiddly buy the egr blank. Take the engine cover off then at the back where the big pipe in the left goes into is the egr then follow the small pipe that comes off at the back that goes onto the turbo then I'd undo either side and put the blank in preferably the turbo side if you can get to it. Hope it helps
