Hi. I'm new here. I just bought a 2004 Lupo 1.4 16V with 75 PS. I wanna do little cosmetic work to it and I need some help before I do. Id appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

Firstly, I wanna debadge the back. But does it have an indent behind the VW badge? Because I don't know how to do body work to make it flat then.

Secondly, I want to either debadge the front or just take out the VW logo and paint it black. Cant decide, and if I decide to debadge, do body shops usually charge a fortune to weld and paint the half moon?

Third, I want to black out the taillights and the rims. Ive heard usually spray on film for the rims is good and sheets of film for the lights, but could use some suggestions.

Thanks.

Yeah there's an indent. Either leave the badge on or get it filled by a body work specialist and repainted.

£150-200. Educated guess but you're best phoning and asking a body work place.

For the wheels either rattle can then if you're good enough or go to a painter to get then powder coated.

Lights you can use lamin-x or something similar.

Its like a royal blue. Don't know the exact name of the color.

Thanks, but I don't know a lot of the terms you guys use. Also, I live in Germany whereas most of you guys are probably UK, so we might not ha e some of the same products.

Does the Lupo and 1.4 badges also ha e indents?

No the lupo and 1.4 badges are just stick on with no indents. Just use a hair dryer and dental floss or old credit card to ease them off. Then use bug and tar remover (or a relatively course polish) to take off the residue.

Sorry by rattle can I meant spray paint them at home using tins of paint with spray heads. Not sure if that's the term you didn't understand? Most auto stores or homebase/B&Q should sell them.

Okay thanks.

Can I just use regular rustoleum (or whatever brand they have) waterproof spray paint on the wheels? Or should I buy some kind of film?

What other nice cosmetic things do you guys recommend doing? (Or inexpensive performance mods)

Spray your VW badges satin black black or buy black ones onesif you can find them. It looks good against the blue.

You should be able to to buy most of the same products. You could use Plastikote on your wheels, easy to apply and remove. Youtube tutorials are good.

Are you BAOR (if it's still called that) or German national?

I am an American living in Germany.

Yea I was thinking of just spraying the badges. The back one though ill keep on while I spray it because I want to keep it perfectly centered and straight.

The door trim is matte black too. Would you recommend taking that off?

Removal of the door strip, which you will see referred to as a bump strip, depends on the parking situation. If you regularly park in tight spaces you may be better leaving it on.

Another thing to consider before removing it is; has your car seen seen fresh paint paint on the sides. A few people have removed them to find paint edges from refreshed paint, without femoving the strips.

Bump strips can look good if you keep them fresh and black.

They look so-so now. They're matte black and in almost perfect shape but id rather have them off. The car hasn't seen fresh paint anywhere but the rear bumper but it has 101km on it so I'm worried it might be faded.

What else do you recommend doing cosmetically? Or inexpensive performance?

To be honest, you should have more options for purchasing OE+ stuff for the Lupo in Germany than we do in the UK.

Quite a bit of stuff is found on ebay.de

To a certain extent, paint can be corrected if it has faded.

One of my fav Blue Lupos belonged to Chris260.

Just took off the Lupo and 1.4 badges and the side strips. The 1.4 came out perfect. The Side strips came out so-so, a bit of scratches but barely visible. The Lupo logo came out pretty bad though. It was so hard to get off and I ended up scratching it. Not through the paint but just changed the Colorado of the paint a bit. Any recommendations?

Another dilemma of mine.

What do you guys think about painting the lower part of the bumper (that is usually matte black kn all non-gti models) to the rest of the body Color? I need a bit of touchup on the front bumper anyways sk I might just spray Thales lower parts too...

And I cant decide between matte black or white for the rims, grill, and badges. On a royal blue what do you guys think?
