When central locking turns evil

Recommended Posts

have no idea why but central locking started closing itself at random yesterday, unluckily the first time it done it was key was in the cubby hole

but the passenger window was down a touch so just grabbed a long pole and finally pressed the button...

it done it 3 or 4 times after while i was out and in the car. Its done this before but it was more opening itself, just after i locked it?? :S:S

Any knowledge? :swerve:

disconnect the battery and then leave it 10 mins or so then re attach it. From memory I believe it resets the modules for the central locking and the electric windows. My passenger window wouldn't go down more than half way, did this and it was mended :D

Worth a shot I suppose

I don't know much about fixing cars but this wont cost you any money and you never know it might fix it. Try taking the central locking button on the drivers door apart and cleaning the terminals on it. maybe a bit of muck is shorting it out. Before taking it apart try disconnecting the switch for a day and see if that makes the problem go away, if so you know its the switch.

I used to work for a coach company and the fitters were always moaning about drivers using silicone sprays to clean the dashboard as this would get into the switch's and break them.
