Ok so I'm the guy who used to wash my old cars with washing up liquid and polish with t cut.,,. So im a complete noob to good thorough cleaning so I need some help please. Basically I want a list of stuff I'll need to get the car gleaming as her new paint won't be too shiney forever if I don't get it right!

1) I need to know what I'm going to need like now to get her ready for the winter.

2) what I can get stocked up with ready for the better weather and show season next year

Any help is much appreciated.

hi mate

this is what i use at the moment but intending on getting a buffer/polisher

shampoo: meguirs gold class. i find the auto glym make the water dry dirty (i dont know why)

i dont have a buffer machine so i use just cheap polishing cloths like 5 for £10

auto glym super resin polish its good if u use less as its made up from clay and gets white bits of clay everywhere if u do it wrong

meguirs spray for the tires

meguirs alloy polisher

autoglym shampoo interior conditioner use with a soft/medium brush then vacum

any dash cleaner really all polishes up the same

a real soft sponge and not the normal yellow ones as the yellow ones dont release the dirt that well and scratches the car :(

autoglym shammy the meguirs one seems to fray and puts bits of the shammy/cloth over the car

for the door shuts n stuff just use a dirty or clean polishing cloth and the tinest bit of polish and then use it for all door ,boot , bonnet shut

thats about all for now

What is it exactly you want to achieve mate? Protection just now for the coming winter months?

What do you have already? PW? Hose? Buckets?

Here's what I recommend and should see you through the winter:

2 Buckets, wash n rinse, pref a 3rd for wheels.

Decent wash mitt eg Meguiars Lambswool.

Wheel brushes/Detailing brushes/Arch brush EZ Detail for wheel backs, envy brushes for fronts, small mitt for behind spokes. Hard Vikan brush for arches.

Car shampoo eg Auto Finesse Lather.

Wheel cleaner eg Bilberry

Wheel sealant eg Auto Finesse Mint Rims

Tar remover eg Autosmart Tardis

Iron X for iron contaminent removal.

All purpose cleaner/degreaser eg Autosmart G101 for shuts, gaps etc.

Clay Bar eg Auto Finesse clay bar.

Drying towels eg Elite fluffy towel's.

Paint cleanser/ pre wax cleaner eg Auto finesse Tripple/ SRP

Wax or Sealant your choice, Wax eg Collinite 845, Sealant Auto Finesse Tough Coat.

Glass cleaner/ Glass sealant eg Nanolex Premium Glass sealing kit (cleaner & sealant)

Trim dressing eg Auto Finesse Revive

Tyre dressing eg TW Wet n Black

Various applicator pads and cloths for application and removal of products.

Interior, APC wipedown AS G101, Hoover, Trim dressing Poorboys natural look.

I've probably missed stuff, need any more info just ask.

Those products I've listed are just examples you can use whatever products you like.

^^ that would be how to clean it propperly and doing it that way you minimise damage to your new paint work and keep it looking fresh!! It may start to cost a bit over time but it's better than killing your fresh paint you payed for! If you need and specific advice check out detailing world forum!
