Pressure bleeding clutch!

Recommended Posts

righto then people, this only really affects people that are out of warranty and are tight laugh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

when i was traveling long distances i noticed that my clutch pedal was `non-existant`, but when i pumped it up it was mint! smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

so basically there was air in system!

1. unscrew `brake-clutch` resoirvoir and top up with dot 4 brake fluid.

2. pump clutch pedal 5 times and hold pedal down using piece of wood wedged between seat and pedal.

3. locate clutch slave cylinder (is on top of gearbox on gti) there is a 11mm bleed nipple ontop of cylinder, get a piece of pipe to go over the nipple and a old can or tray to place at the other end of pipe!

4. open nipple with your 11mm spanner until u see fluid (normally black

5. tighten bleed nipple back up and pump cluth pedal 5 times and hold pedal down again with wood!

6. repeat process's `1-5` around 5 times and don't forget to tighten bleed nipple back up  (refit rubber bung on nipple)

take for a test drive to see if this has sorted the problem tongue.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

(normal disclamer applies)

good luck!
