james 16v
Hi guysIve said hi now straight in with the questions!!!Just tried to MOT my lupo, had a couple of issues that I didn’t worry about but it failed badly on emissions. No problem I thought, put the cat back on and im through, but just had the retest and its still a million miles out.The tester said its over fuelling badly and suggested I try a new lambda sensor.Generally car runs well, pulls hard through the rev range starts first time hot or cold and theres not a hint of smoke from the exhaust.Im gonna try and vagcom it before I start spending but does anyone have an idea of where the problem may be?Spec is lupo sport 1.4 16v, 4 branch manifold, BMC filter. Thanks
Mike_M
You would have needed to drive a while with the cat on so the ECU re-adjusts itself. The engine would run a lot better with the CAT in as that tollerance is taken into count on these engines , unless it has been re-mapped. james 16v
Ive done about 100 miles since i fitted the cat, would this have been enough? Is there 1 or 2 lambda sensors meant to be on the car? I could only see 1 but the guy at the motor factors was insisting there was 2.Thanks for the replys lads
james 16v
Hi guysFor anyone searching, the problem was the lambda. The old one had been spliced to bits and had been poorly soldered back together.A new one on and it flew through the emmissions. Petrified
Glad you got this sorted out!I'm guessing that had been done by longlife who fitted the exhaust. Anyway enjoy the car matey. Think I'll need to change my sig now! Edited October 14, 2010 by Petrified
