Ashley
Hello hello, going to have a look at a tidy looking Mk3 GT breadvan for the other half tomorrow. The only thing i'm concerned about is that the paint is finished in satin black.Im wondering how you care for it, im assuming just soap and water and no polishing. Also wondering how durable it is, isn't satin paint porous? It has been primered properly and is a decent airgun jobby as opposed to halfrauds cans.Any information / pearls of enlightening wisdom would be great, thanks Ashley Edited February 20, 2010 by Ashley
little rich
Hot soapy water is the trick for satin paint And if it is a DIY job dont use a jet wash!Rich.
Ashley
Cheers buddy. What about drying? I have read that watermarks are a pain in the backside? Is it difficult to maintain and wash?
Little Green Giant
i would have thought just shammy it to dry, i cant imagine it would be any harder to wash than gloss paint.
Ashley
I have read that it is more difficult, not as much of a bugger as matt, but not as easy as gloss. Also by hot soapy water do you literally mean washing up liquid? Or am i safe to use my autoglym shampoo and ECC snow foam?Ashley

Ashley
Lovely jubbly, cheers So just a normal wash then, im worried about drying it because of the less smooth surface. Plus I have heard some difficulties can be had caring for satin finishes. I will just have to see how i go if i end up getting the car, its only cheap anyway Ashley
