Jag
HelloLupo Gti51 plateI went to top up my oil today and when I took the cap off I saw this yellow cream like substance on the bottom of the cap. I know to look out for white mayonnaise like substance but this stuff is yellow. Is it the same thing, and what could it mean? Thanks
Defcon5
Its just because its cold, dont worry about it - If you thunder down the m-way for an hour it will go away but it isnt doing any harm
jon_273
Probably the same thing as the usual white mayonnaise stuff. It is caused by frequent short journeys. Follow Defcon5's advice

nfbr
If you get Fully Synthetic oil next time you service the car, this can sometimes cure the yellow gunky stuff! Edited January 10, 2010 by nfbr
Bigfoot
Its emulsified oil (water mixing with oil).If your car has a slight oil leak around the head/ rocker cover it could be letting moisture in and causing it.Aslong as the cars going fine, don't worry about it.
