running in time

Recommended Posts

ok ive been finding the scenic route to everywhere to get it past the first 1000 slow miles (kept it under 3000rpm). its now on 1200m and ive given it a few blasts up to about `4500-5000` but not giving it everything its got...

should it be ok to take it for a proper blast now or will it need moer running in time? (just dont want to f*ck it up after reading about damage to pistons & glazing effect when u dont run engines in). whats everyone elses 'runing in routine' been?

in my opinion, if you've hit 1000 miles, go for it. That's been what I've done in the past - last car was a passat that now has 95K on the clock still running strong.

(ok - well it did have a new engine at about 45K when I got it! That's what I ran in.)

1000 miles is what VW advise, and if anything they're likely to be overcautious.
