Metcalfe
I have a small oil leak on one side of my engine near to the dipstick. I am not that mechanically minded so can anyone give me an indication as to what could be leaking down this end of the engine;Cheers

Metcalfe
it could b that the dipstick has not been pushed in rightbaz....I haven't moved the dipstick recently Baz and I think it would probably be over a larger area if that was the case. CasperGTI
Nothing from that area of the engine. That looks like its a drip from when the dipstick has been taken out.John Edited May 3, 2009 by CasperGTI
Defcon5
Casper is right, there isnt anywhere for it to leak from. When you say you havent moved the dipstick recently, thats the point baz was trying to make, - it shouldnt be where it is in the pic, it should be pushed right down
kingy89
My sport seems to be doing the exact same my dipsticks firmly pushed down so it clips and i give it a wipe every now and again but it always comes back.
Metcalfe
Okay, so you mean that the dipstick is out of position on that picture?Should the darker coloured orange section be pushed down a few centimetres?
Defcon5
Okay, so you mean that the dipstick is out of position on that picture?Should the darker coloured orange section be pushed down a few centimetres? Are you having a laugh? My girfriend realised what was wrong within 3 secs and she can barely get the fuel cap off her Lupo. The dipstick should be pushed in as far as it will go, IIRC it makes a little click when its secure. If you have pushed it down as far as it will go then you must have put ut in wrong, rotate it 180 degrees and put it back in
Philplop
Yes, push it right down, those sticky out bits underneath the finger loop clip onto the top of the filler neck.Just push it til it clicks.
Metcalfe
No mate I am not having a laugh, the dipstick does not go in any further and it is 'clicked' into place. Rotating makes no difference
Philplop
Something's jamming it then. It definately needs to go down further.Take it out, give it a wipe and check the filler neck to see if there's something stuck in there.
Defcon5
Could it be that it has been replaced with one from another engine and is the wrong length?
