JB1.0e
HelloI switched on my laptop this morning and it spoke saying something about a serious system error. It opened up what looked like a Windows/Microsoft security checker which performed a scan resulting in several hundred thousand security issues that meant I needed to buy a license for a cookie guard. I was suspicious because the window contained spelling mistakes and it listed cluplupo as a "porn cache" maybe I am looking in the wrong area but I never noticed. My computer already has one guard or something with a two year liscence so I closed that window but the navigation screen is completely blank no wall paper, icons or anything. I can still access the internet by using task manager but I am a little concerned about what has happened.Last night I left the computer connected to the internet downloading a file from iplayer, when it is left for a while it shuts down and as far as I am aware it was not used until this morning. Does anyone have any idea what this is? James
Gazzard
You said you already have an anti virus?acces that and do a full system scan and see if that brings back anything?
JB1.0e
Just spoke to my brother, apparently he had a look at the internet last night using my laptop and the site he accessed prompted him to allow a program access to the internet, so he did. I checked the list of programs and found a new one "privacy" something installed in the early hours of this morning. I removed that and everything works again now. I have one care but I could not gain access to anything as this new program was telling me to buy some new software. It seems OK now, I wonder what site he was looking at! VinnyGTI
Could be spyware if its asking you to buy software. If you dont have it download Lavasoft Adaware its free and will get rid of spyware.
