JackSmith
a couple of people have put induction kits on so if you want to try that do that first before getting it mapped you can also take the center box out on your exsaust its suppost to free it up and give you more poweras for wheels just look about on fourms (edition 38 / wheel whores ) or ebay there is some nice wheels on dubmeister Edited January 20, 2009 by JackSmith
AlexTRea
Will that work on a diesel? so before a remap get an induction kit cheers matee
AwesomeAl
With the centre box being a simple resonator its not all that restrictive. There is more restriction in the backbox than that in the centrebox.I'd have the backbox removed and a hidden or not hidden tailpipe made up for it.It'll sound nice as well then! (Don't worry It won't be ridiculously loud)Theres been a lot of controversy with regards to putting induction kits on the TDI's. I'm still un decided. At least a pannel filter would be a good plan though. When you do take the punt and decide to get a remap done, make sure it is a custom map done to suit your car and your modifications on a rolling road.Don't bother with a "Load and Go" style map as these won't give you the benefit of the extra modifications.Give me a shout when you are ready to get it mapped and I'll see what I can do pricewise Cheers, Al. AlexTRea
Cheers Yeah i heard that tdi's were a pain to tune most of them, right i will do no bother, so is there anything else i can do while your here?
AwesomeAl
Not really. They are easier to tune than a lot of petrol engines thanks to how well VW Designed the fueling system.

AwesomeAl
They are a bit of a pain to fit the air filters as the airbox can only be undone from underneath the car. Some of the screws holding it together are difficult to get to.
AlexTRea
SO if i brought it down would you be able to fit it? or your place,
richardn
i replaced the air filter on mine the other day and they are awkward as hell if you cannot get the car on a ramp, two of the bolts are relatively easy but the two clodest the front bumper are a bit of a squezze
AlexTRea
Hmmmm was it a bit of a job like?
AwesomeAl
less than 10 minutes if you've got a propper ramp About half an hour if you are doing it on axle stands/jack
AlexTRea
is it easy to change once your in?and will it change the performance much?
AwesomeAl
Yeah dead straight forward. It just gets rid of intake restrictions caused by the original paper filter.
