Kwitfit....

Recommended Posts

Swung by kwikfit as they advertising £74.00 for an interim service - quick maths worked out that seeing as though 505.01 PD oil and filter sets you back about £40 - an air filter another £15 and a fuel filter £9.00 I thought for the additional - what a tenner - i'm get some other guy to do it - plus he can stmp my book whilst he is there!!

Point being.... what oil do they use - so I asked and it was Mobil 1 - 10-40W - not the 5-30W that VW recommend. So I decided against it - now I'm thinking - how many others have thought to check this and how many oil changes have been done with the wrong oil by Kwikfit?!!!!

I would not recomment kwikfit to anyone! The cheapest is very rarely the best!

They are also bound to come back to you with "your going to need a set of pads" "your drop links seem worn" or whatever.

Your best going to a specialist, or failing that, doing it yourself!

I get my PD oil from a friendly Seat dealer for about £20.

Yeah thats what i do, i dont trust many garages!

I still stamp my book though, and write in everything as it gets replaces: tyres, brakes etc.

Plus you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself!

Not sure if i would service a new car myself, i think id keep up with dealer service for the first 3 years, but then i would :)
